Counselor Corner 🌛
Last month, Northview students learned about the character trait of Gratitude and celebrated by having a School Spirit Day! We learned that an Attitude of Gratitude means being in the present moment and choosing to be thankful and appreciative for things in our life. When we use a gratitude mindset, we feel more confident, positive, optimistic, and joyful about the things we have and the people that matter most!
Our character traits for December are Empathy and Kindness. Empathy means understanding how someone else is feeling and then showing that person support. We will be focusing on two elements of Empathy: Shared Emotion and Seeing Other Perspectives. From there, we will talk about how to show kindness in all areas of our building and community. We will celebrate this character trait on Thursday, December 22 with a Pajama Day! Students can wear their pajamas (Holiday themed if preferred) and enjoy a day of comfort before we go on Winter Break!
After returning from Winter Break, we will focus on the character trait of Flexible Thinking.
✏️Book Fair Coordinator Needed!
The district currently has an opening for a Scholastic Book Fair Coordinator. This volunteer role helps to coordinate the Middle School Book Fair (held for one week in November) and the Northview Book Fair (held for one week in February). The coordination efforts include arranging the book fair content with Scholastic, securing volunteers to support the sales, and organizing free book credits with our teachers. If this is something you are interested in or would like to learn more, please contact Jennie Cassity at cassity@wi.rr.com.

During the holidays, third grade prefers to have students do a service project instead of exchanging gifts with each other. This year the third grade families are Secret Santas for residents at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center.
The donated gifts will be given to residents when Santa makes a visit to Rocky Knoll this Christmas.
The third graders will enjoy a holiday celebration day making crafts, trail mix, and sharing their recently published nonfiction writing with each other. It will be a great way to celebrate the season and to celebrate being generous with others.
