Survey
Please complete the survey sent out last week. It is imperative that we receive a response for each child in our school. This survey provides feedback on Virtual Learning thus far. In addition, this survey lets us know if we were to do a hybrid format whether your child would be returning face to face or continuing in a virtual format. We need responses back by this Friday. Important Dates:
We have school Friday, September 25th!!!
Stop by and pick up student supplies on Friday, September 25th 7-8:30am and 3-5:30 pm for 1st-5th grade students. Please stop by the front of the building where we will have tables marked with materials for your child. If these times do not work, you may stop by next week from 8:00-9:30 am and 2:00-4:00 pm to get those materials.
First grade parents who received the wrong book for Phonics instruction, please bring the book that was not correct and we will exchange it for you.
Monday, September 28th- No School
Friday, October 2nd- 2-hour early dismissal--
- K-5th grade will follow the instructional schedule usually followed on Wednesday.
- PK Synchronous Instruction schedule will be AM session: 9:30-10:45 and PM session: 11:00-12:15
News from the Administrative Team

We are very excited to welcome Ms. Mary (Missy) Myers to our school. She is an experienced administrative secretary and will be an excellent addition to our Roo family. Ms. Myers and Ms. Manley are both positive, lead with their heart, are devoted to providing exceptional customer service, and and are dedicated to meeting the needs of all of our stakeholders. Our office staff is here for you and will work to meet your needs.
Students will be receiving Guidance lessons during some of the time designated as Media time. Students will continue to follow their same schedule and go to the Media link.
Our staff has agreed to provide a helpdesk for families Monday-Thursday from 6-8 pm and Saturday morning from 9-11 am. A teacher is on the other end to provide support. Please feel free to reach out. Go to meet.google.com and the room name is sreshelpline.
Spirit Days
The First Friday of each month will be School Spirit day!! Please wear your SRES spirit wear or blue and white on Friday, October 2nd.
The last Friday of the month will be other fun spirit days. Friday, October 30th will be Hat day. We look forward to seeing many fun hats!!

SRES Counseling Virtual Office Hours
SRES is opening up "Virtual Office Hours" for the remainder of our distance learning. We would like students and families to feel supported during this time and these hours provide an opportunity for you to reach out to our counseling department. These times can be used for you to reach out with questions or concerns for Mrs. Trombatore or Ms. Slick.

Staff Member of the Month!
Ms. Toner is our resident sub and is a true part of our SRES family. She runs the Facebook and Twitter pages, pitches in wherever needed and has helped to create a warm learning environment with her beautiful bulletin boards. More information about Ms. Dayhoff and Ms. Toner in the near future!! Congrats to these staff members.
Distance Learning Device Troubleshooting Tips
If you are having issues with Schoology check the status of the software first: https://status.schoology.com/
Chromebook Troubleshooting Tips
- Many Chromebook issues are resolved by restarting the device.
- To Restart the Chromebook
- Sign out of your account, lower right bottom of the screen (the Shelf)
- Then look for the power symbol along the bottom left of the shelf to shutdown.
- Turn the Chromebook back on - Hold down the power button on the keyboard
- Device running sluggish in the Chrome browser: Clear the cache and then reboot https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/183083?hl=en
- Delete all browsing history (clears cache and cookies - great for fixing errors with website). Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar. Select Tools. Select Clear browsing data. In the dialog that appears, select the checkboxes for the types of information that you want to remove (do all). Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. Click Clear browsing data.
- If someone has changed the keyboard settings. Click SHIFT-ALT to set it back to US keyboard. Check to make sure the language wasn't changed: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/1059490?hl=en
- If the image on the home screen is rotated: Ctrl-shift-reload/refresh will rotate the entire screen by 90 degrees each time it is pressed.
- If you need to remove a user from a Chromebook, do not login. At the login screen, click on the upper right corner of that user's login icon and remove the user. https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/1059260?hl=en
- No sound on headphones: Make sure headphones are plugged in properly and there is no dirt in the plug. Make sure the mute button isn't pushed.

Yearbook Update!
We continue to wait for yearbooks to arrive!! As soon as they arrive we will inform you! We apologize for the delay-- we are all anxiously awaiting the final product.
Free Meal Opportunities
Meals will be available in our cafeteria on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11am-1pm using the following schedule.
- Mondays: FCPS provides “to-go” breakfast and lunch for Monday and Tuesday.
- Wednesdays: FCPS provides “to-go” breakfast and lunch for Wednesday and Thursday.
- Friday: FCPS provides "to go" breakfast and lunch for Friday.
