National Elementary Honor Society Food Drive

Please support the Coosa Elementary and Lady's Island Elementary School's NEHS by donating to our "Food for Beaufort" food drive to support HELP of Beaufort in restocking their new pantry shelves. From April 24th-May 19th we will be accepting donations of canned veggies, spaghetti sauce products, canned meats, soups, beans, healthy drinks and snacks, canned fruit, and condiments. Your child may bring the items to school with them and give them to their homeroom teacher. Thank you for your support!

Volunteers Needed

If you are an approved volunteer and are willing to help monitor in a classroom for state testing, please contact Mrs. Roberts at Renee.roberts@beaufort.k12.sc.us. Volunteers will be needed from approximately 7:30-11:00 daily. You can volunteer one day or multiple days. Testing dates are above.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 1-5. At Coosa, we believe that all faculty and staff members are teachers - regardless of their position. During this week, we honor all employees for their dedication to the field of education. If you are interested in surprising a faculty or staff member with a small treat, please do so.

Cell Phones and Smart Watches

Students are not allowed to make phone calls from personal cell phones or smart watches at school. If a student is not adhering to these guidelines, the watch or phone will be turned in to the office for parent pick up. The item will not be allowed back to school. If your student wears a smart watch to school during state testing in May, they will be required to remove the watch prior to testing. Please contact an administrator with any questions.

5th Grade STEM Field Trip

Last Friday, our 5th grade students got to attend the biannual STEM Air Show on the Marine Corps Air Station! Students experienced a multitude of airplanes, helicopters, and more while engaging in hands-on learning. Furthermore, they got to see the Blue Angels fly!

Lemon Trees Have Been Added

Earlier in the week, the NEHS along with our friends from the Sea Island Gardening Club (one of our wonderful business partners) planted two lemon trees next to our fig tree and blueberry bushes. Students learned how to space the tree properly, dig a hole twice as wide and deep, and the proper steps in caring for the tree. We can't wait for our lemon trees to bear fruit!
