PBIS Update: Information Item
Thank you!!! - Thank you to all of the teachers who have stepped up and taken on a lunch/recess duty. Having more staff present during these times will help out tremendously. We appreciate your support!
Recess - Remember to review these recess/lunch reminders every day before you take your class to lunch/recess. Thank you for your extra support in improving our student's behavior during these less structured times. The third-grade play brigade will begin this Monday! Another exciting leadership opportunity for our students!
Positive School Environment Expectations - Use this matrix to support your students in understanding the behavior expectations at around Holmes. The PBIS team is working to get these printed and posted around our school.
CICO Self Monitoring- Students who have moved into self-monitoring will have the words SELF MONITORING across their form so all teachers are aware that they have made this change. Students in self-monitoring should decide what they feel like they deserve through a short conversation with their teacher at the time. Thank you all for your support with this program.
COACHING CORNER: Information & Action Items
Guided Reading Lesson Plans
Ask your team lead for Jennifer Serravallo’s “Understanding Texts & Readers” and “The Reading Strategies Book” to support your lessons.
Reading Logs
- I see that you have read mostly fiction texts these past two weeks. Are there any settings, issues, or topics related to your fiction texts that you could learn more about in a non-fiction text?
- I see that you read 5 pages in your fiction book during a 20-minute reading session. Let’s look to see if this is a right-fit book for you. If not, you could listen to the book or partner read.
