Testing Notes of Encouragement
In today's Friday folder you will find detailed information about a SURPRISE activity that you can do to encourage your child during the upcoming days of testing. As you know, beginning the last week of February and into mid March, your child will be taking those high-stakes standardized test, ISTEP and IREAD, for the very first time. Please take the time to write some notes of encouragement. Once you have completed all of the cards, please return them in a sealed envelope, as this is a complete surprise. They have no clue what's going on. The notes will be delivered on each day of the testing (three days in Feb./Mar. and then again in April/May). I know it will give them some much-appreciated motivation, and I thank you for supporting your child in this way. In order to organize these letters for distribution, please have them back to me by Wednesday, February 21.
Jump Rope for Heart Update
Can you believe it! We've reached $3940....$60 away from our online goal! We just cannot thank you enough for your cooperation with this.
Family Skate Day
Don't forget about our Family Skate Day at Goggin this coming Sunday. It is absolutely FREE to our students and their families. However, the LES PTO along with College Corner Union School PTO is paying the bill for this, and they are charged no matter what... if we have a full house or just 5 kids. So please, bring the family and come on over this Sunday from 12:30-2:30. There will be snacks and prizes!
Math Problem Solving
With our monthly LifeSkill focus on resourcefulness and problem solving, our current math focus is a nice complement. With the standardized test looming around the corner, math groups will have a strong focus on both review and problem solving with previously learned concepts. Think of it as "potpourri" math for the next few weeks.
Video Permissions
Please don't forget to turn in the video permission slip for Mrs. Bartos' student teacher. She is eager to share with her supervisors the wonderful things that our students are doing in her art classroom. These are due on Monday.
Next Week's Share Topic
To celebrate Presidents’ Day, choose one president. Find a few facts and maybe a picture of that president. A timeline would be a wonderful way to organize his life. Libraries, encyclopedias, and the Internet are all great places to start your research.
