Principals Message

Kia ora Whaanau,

Welcome back to Term 2, it has been so great to whaanau in dropping their kids off at the class.

Over the holidays one of our students spoke at the Tuakau ANZAC celebration. Maddison Bradley represented our school well speaking of the heroics of a solider who went to war.

Also over the holidays our school volleyball team won gold at the Te Aroha secondary schools COVID invitational volleyball championship. Our girls played extremely well and we are extremely proud of them.

We are currently operating the school under the orange setting for COVID, that means visitors are welcome back on site, masks are recommended but not compulsory when indoors, masks are still required on buses, and we are back to having whole school events. What we need from you is to continue to keep your children home if they are sick, if they have COVID symptoms please get them tested, and encourage hand washing regularly.

This term the BOT are reviewing the following policies. To give feedback head to the school website click on the policy page, use the username and password to access the policy site and select current reviews. Feedback can be given directly the the site.

Policy for review in Term 2:

· Medicines

· Managing minor/moderate injury

· Managing serious injury

· Infectious diseases

· Bullying and online bullying

· Surrender and retention of property and searches

Lastly our students have gained enough waka cards to earn their positive behaviour celebration. We are doing this on Friday 13th in the last period. Students earn clicks on their waka cards for showing the right behaviours, when the card is full it is handed in and awarded house points. Collectively the students earn points towards their positive behaviour celebration, and they earn individual and group prizes throughout the term. Well done to the students for doing the right things to earn their celebration.

Ngaa mihi,

Rebecca Bills

The Childcare and Early Learning Centre on the school grounds has now been fully renovated. We’ve extended the operating hours and are now open Mon-Fri from 7:30am-5:30pm. We’ve also been through all the licencing requirements to now be able to provide spaces for babies for the first time, so we can cater from 3 month olds through to 5 year olds.
