Ozark Innovation Center Marks New Era of Secondary Learning
A dream years in the making finally became a reality, Oct. 14, 2022, as hundreds of state and local community members gathered outside what was once known as the Fasco building to officially cut the ribbon for the Ozark Innovation Center and usher in a new era of learning for the District.
“Our District is changing how we educate by challenging the ‘factory model’ of teaching with the conversion of this factory into a facility that inspires purpose and creates success-ready students,” Superintendent Dr. Chris Bauman said.
Leaders from around the state spoke at the event praising Ozark’s innovation and initiative to push the envelope of what learning can look like, acting as a model for the rest of the state.
Where We Came From: A History of 1600 W. Jackson St.
Nowadays, when you visit 1600 W. Jackson Street you’ll mostly likely see a school bus or two, students milling around and a large Ozark Schools logo, but that wasn’t always the case.
When the 170,000 square-foot industrial building was first built, it was an automotive factory, known as Fasco Industries, which opened its doors in 1965.
We were excited to see so many former Fasco employees attend our Ribbon Cutting and tour the facility. The factory helped develop Ozark into the strong community it is today, and the OIC will foster a strong future for our children.

OJH Teacher Receives Donor Choose Grant
Congratulations to Ms. Giesler (left), a first-year math teacher at Ozark Junior High, on being awarded a Donor Choose grant from Horace Mann to get organizational tools for her classroom.
Ms. Giesler said she hopes to use the money to organize her classroom and help students feel welcome and not overwhelmed when they enter her room. She also hopes it will help her foster relationships with her students, which she loves!
Thank you!
Recently we announced that starting Oct. 17 students with $20+ in lunch balances would receive an alternate meal. Following the announcement, many in the community sent in donations to go toward student meal balances. We are so thankful to a part of such a supportive community. Thank you! If you’d like to contribute, call 417-582-3967 or email at leannsutterfield@ozarktigers.org.
300 and Counting
Congratulations to OHS Volleyball Coach Adeana Brewer for getting her 300th career coaching win on Oct. 14 against Eldon during the first round of the Grand Slam Tournament. If you ask Coach Brewer, she gives the credit to her talented players and the assistant coaches she’s worked with through the years. In 13 seasons as a head coach, she has 238 wins as an Ozark Tiger and 62 wins as a Strafford Indian.
Sweet Show-Me-State
This week third graders from East Elementary and baking students from OJH celebrated Missouri Day with an awesome Show-Me-State activity, frosting Missouri-shaped cookies and decorating them with candy and sprinkles galore, to indicate where the rivers and important cities are across the state. We can't get enough of this sweet collaboration!
