CARLSON COURIER
Champions Under Construction
Greetings Champions,
The weeks are starting to zoom by and the end of the year is fast approaching. We had another successful week. 5th grade ventured into the business world and came back ready to get to work. Biztown was quite a success thanks to our 5th grade team and all of the volunteers that helped out. Thank you for making this experience memorable for our students. Additionally, 3rd grade ventured into the past when they went south and visited the Casa Grande Ruins and learned about indigenous tribes and how they lived. And our 2nd graders were treated with a trip to the Zoo to learn about habitats and the animal kingdom. Again, thank you to staff for planning these authentic, fun learning opportunities for our students and a big thank you to our brave volunteers that helped contain the excitement. You are all appreciated! And if that wasn't enough, the final Carlson Battle of the Books, aka the battle to end all battles (and send a winning team to district) was determined. Kudos to all of our teams on an impressive season but there can only be one Champion and that designation goes out to ... Drum roll ... Cooper L. and Jonah L. from Mrs. Montano's class. Congrats gentlemen! And congrats to all of our participants and Mrs. Wiggers for sponsoring the club. Great job! And finally, on Thursday we witnessed the amazing Carlson Champion Cheer team perform at their annual showcase. Wow! They have worked so hard this year under the guidance and leadership of Coach Murrieta, Mrs. Hendricsen and coach Garber! The girls have improved in all facets from their tumbling abilities, choreography, dance, chants, and all things Cheer! Thank you to all of the family, friends and staff that came out and showed their support for the girls. What a wonderful evening.
This week we tackle the final legs of this year's AASA testing. All students in grades 3 - 6 will take the reading portion on Tuesday and the Math on Thursday. Testing starts at 9:00am so please be sure to have your student arrive on time and with a good night rest and nutritious breakfast.
And once the dust settles, it's time to celebrate Spring in good old fashioned Champion style. This Friday The Greatest Show comes to Carlson and starts at 6:00pm! We can't thank our PTO and their crew enough for all their hard work behind the scenes to make events like this possible. If you haven't already be sure to purchase your carnival tickets (see link below) I hope to see you all there.
Finally, above you may have noticed the link that says, "Building Carlson Champions." This survey to help us better serve you and your student(s). At Carlson we strive to be Champions in all we do and do be a Champion we know that takes hard work, dedication and great coaching. So, please take a minute and let us know what you like that we do and where you think we need to grow. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to our continued success as TEAM CARLSON!
Have a great week everyone!
Most Gratefully,
Mr. Morgan
