District-wide testing takes place April 13 and 14
District-wide testing will be held on Wednesday, April 13, and Thursday, April 14. Juniors taking the SAT and students testing with certain accommodations will attend both days. Juniors will take the SAT on Wednesday and the Illinois Science Assessment on Thursday. Seniors who still need to take the SAT will attend Wednesday. Freshmen and sophomores who do not require 2-day accommodations will attend Thursday. For students who are not required to take the SAT or PSAT, April 13 and April 14 will be non-attendance days. Additional information on testing days, student arrival times, and departure times will be sent to students and families in the coming week.
End of semester student schedules
As you know, Leyden no longer runs final exam schedules at the end of the semesters. This year, we will run a new half-day schedule during the last days of the semester. Students will attend half of their classes one day, then the other half the following day.
May 16-17 and May 19-20 will follow half-days schedules. May 18 will run on a usual Wednesday inservice day schedule. See detailed schedule below:

*Grab and Go student lunches will be available after all half day schedules.
Senior materials return process
Senior materials return will begin on Monday, May 9, and conclude on Thursday, May 12. Seniors will have the 13 of May off of school. Seniors may purchase a Chromebook for $40 or they may turn in their Chromebook with their calculators, books, and other materials. Once a student turns in their Chromebook, they will receive their yearbook. Please contact the Assistant Principal's Office for more information or questions.

Water polo teams compete in first matches
Leyden’s inaugural boys and girls Varsity Water Polo teams played their first games against Prosser on March 24.
While both teams did not win, they were still noteworthy games. For our girls team led by coach Natalie Bialecki, Isabella Cano scored 3 goals, with Lujan Regalado scoring a 4th for the team.
For our boys team, led by coach Elizabeth Hardt, Felipe Gaspar scored 2 goals.
Varsity girls team: Gaby Bukowski, Isabella Cano, Emily Diaz, Kaya Kurcz, Demi Picasso, Lujan Regalado, Samantha Romero and Mia Yelich.
Varsity boys team: Felipe Gaspar, Patryk Michalik, Hugo Ortiz, Alex Pasztaleniec, Jared Rios, Ezekiel Roman, J Rafael Romero Alveraz, Giovanni Sassanelli and Benjamin Venaleck.
These are the first official matches for our first official water polo teams here at Leyden, and we only look forward to more games in the future!
Fortnite team wins state title
Leyden is happy to share Caleb Ruiz, David Hernandez and Daniel Jiminez, three sophomore students at West won Leyden's first ESports State Title in Fortnite!
There were 18 different schools, represented by 32 teams of 3 players, 96 total players (some schools had more than one team qualify) for the state final. State final consisted of six 25 minutes rounds.
1st Place went to Leyden followed by Barrington High School and then Salem High School.
There were approximately 88 teams that competed during the regular season - the top 32 qualified for the state title tournament. This is our first year of esports and our first year of competing.

BRIDGE basketball wins state championship
It's with great pride we announce our BRIDGE Leyden Basketball team won the State Championship!
This season led by coach Teagen Lyke, the team had an undefeated record of 4-0. During the state championship, the team won their first game by a whopping 20 points. The championship game score was a nail biting 42-41 with Leyden Bridge taking the victory over the TNT Firecrackers. This year there were 90 teams total that qualified for state!
The students that competed were: Gianluca Bravo, Emmanuel Deacon, Jonathon Gonzalez, Alexander Juraszek, Dominic LaRocco, Lester Martinez, Daniel Ramirez, Sammy Termine and William Torres.
