Una nota de la Sra. Larson/ A note from Mrs. Larson
I hope you had a beautiful Easter weekend. Thankful is what I am feeling these days. Thank you for the amazing community that surrounds McKinley. Just this last week, the students were blessed with a Try It Truck from the discovery museum, Awesome PE from the Academy of Athletics, safari assemblies, and our own production of the Lion King! These are just a few of the many opportunities our students have been given, all in part from our AWESOME PTA and the donations we have received from all of you. Thank you, PTA and families, for these wonderful opportunities.
Our PTA is made up of a group of hard-working parents. We are looking for strong student advocates to step into some important roles on the PTA. I was a working parent who helped run the WISE foundation for over ten years for the Waugh school district where my kids attended. The importance of this work, just like our PTA, provides opportunities for all students, especially students who might not get these opportunities outside of school.
We also have other opportunities for you if you can give an hour of your time a week (or more). Yard duty spots are open if you are interested; we need you!
Please reach out if you are interested. Your volunteerism means the world to the students and staff here at McKinley.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Larson

Steve and Kate's Camp
Since 1980, Steve & Kate’s has put kids in charge of their own learning experience. They try,
fail, and learn on their own. They learn to trust their own judgment and tackle the challenges of an ever-changing world with creativity and confidence.
Campers choose minute to minute from a variety of activities, including sewing, stop-motion
animation, music, sports & recreation, makers crafts, bread making, and more. They'll decide
what they want to do and for how long.
This summer families can buy as many days as they’d like, and use them at any time. No
weekly reservations required–just show up!
Lunch and snacks are included daily, as well as all hours: 8 am–6 pm
Open this Summer:
June 13th- August 19th

Recess Playground Volunteers Wanted!
Do you want to help your teacher in a fun and rewarding way?
In a recent survey of McKinley staff, the #1 ask was for more parent support. One of the ways staff identified we could help is by volunteering out on the blacktop during recess and lunch, allowing staff more time to focus on meeting the complex needs of their students.
Just one recess (10:05 – 10:45 am) or lunchtime (11:45 am – 1:00pm) per week (more or less if you’d like), one-month commitment to start. We welcome a longer commitment.
Click here to sign up – grab a friend to join you, or plan to make new friends!
