Hey there Bucs! I can’t wait to see our new halls filled with all of our Buccaneers. This school year I will be working primarily with 5th graders helping them acclimate to being a part of our Harrison family. I will be visiting all 5th grade Social Studies classrooms the first few weeks of school so they know who I am and how to reach me when needed. We know this year will be an even bigger transition for students not only moving up to intermediate school but for some also adjusting back to in-person learning. We have lots of strategies and supports ready for all of our Bucs and know that is going to be a GREAT year! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Dalila Nastase, Counselor Grade 6
Hi Buccaneers! I look forward to meeting our new Buccaneers and seeing our returning students. This school year I will primarily be serving our 6th grade students and their families. I will be visiting our 6th graders during the first weeks in their Social Studies classes to share resources and ways to stay in contact with me. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Chromebooks are Going Home at Harrison
July 26, 2021
Wylie ISD Families,
RE: Technology Chromebook One-to-One Program
In Wylie ISD, all secondary students have had access to Chromebooks in various content classes since 2015. Starting in 2017, our 5th-8th graders were issued a Chromebook to use throughout the entire school day. We are excited to announce for the 2021-2022 school year, we will continue to implement a one-to-one Chromebook program at our secondary campuses. The students in grades 5-8 will also be allowed to take the Chromebooks home.
Chromebooks will be distributed to students at the beginning of the school year after the parent and student sign a device agreement. Each campus will publish more information regarding device distribution. Students will be issued a Dell Chromebook along with a power adapter, cord, and protective case. Wylie ISD will require that Chromebook insurance be purchased prior to the deployment of the Chromebook to the student. For students in grades 5-8, the annual fee will be $30 per device. The insurance package covers any type of device malfunction, including:
· Accidental damage (drops/spills)
· Cracked screen
· Liquid submersion
· Power surge (lightning)
· Theft with a police report
To learn more about the Wylie ISD 1:1 Chromebook Program, including information on the device agreement, insurance, device resources, and a FAQ section, please visit https://tinyurl.com/Wylie1to1.
Thank you for your support of the Wylie ISD 1:1 Chromebook Program. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your student’s campus principal.
