What we are learning in Room 12...
This is the area of the weekly newsletter where parents/guardians can be informed of what is planned for our week. If your child is ever going to be absent, please let me know in advance if possible, so I can send make-up work with them.
- Math - We are still learning about grams, kilograms, liters, and milliliters and how to round numbers using these measurements. We will finish this unit next week and will take the unit test before winter break begins.
- Reading - We are starting a short unit about theme, in which we will read a lot of Kevin Henkes' books to compare the theme in each.
- Writing/Spelling - This week's spelling words are about diphthongs (the au/aw sound is this week's diphthong focus). The spelling test is on Friday. For writing class, we are continuing our narrative writing unit.
- Social Studies - We are finished learning about our local government unit and the social studies test is on Tuesday. Students are to study the study guide that went home on Friday, as well as any papers from their folder they'd like to look over.
- The 3rd grade will attend the Munroe Health Fair on Friday with their 5th grade buddies. High schoolers from THS will be presenting the health fair in our gym.
Weekly Website - Math Game about Rounding
This is a fun game about rounding numbers! I played it and it's a little tricky to think about how to match him to the right answers since he can only turn left in the game!
