WOLVES BASKETBALL BUDDIES
MS ROBOTICS TEAM COMPETES

IVY TECH FIELD TRIP
Parke Heritage Middle School eighth grade class traveled to Terre Haute to visit the Ivy Tech campus. While there, the students were put into small groups and participated in hands-on activities. They listened to presentations given by the different schools.
The students visited the areas of Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Health Sciences, Nursing, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning; Automotive Technology, Engineering and Agriculture. The field trip was an opportunity for the middle school students to explore career options, learn more about Ivy Tech and to inform them about college opportunities.
JAG CAREER DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE
The Parke Heritage High School Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) class competed at the District Career Development Conference. Students who placed in their events were Tanner Sasin- third in Writing Skills, Dennis Pratt- second in Public Speaking, Ling Xiong- second in Employability Skills and Will Swinney- third in Creative Solutions. The class sponsor is Mrs. Kim Snodgrass.

SLIZ EARNS GOLD AT STATE
Meghan Sliz, a junior at Parke Heritage high school, earned a gold medal at state vocal solo and ensemble contest.
DAR ESSAY WINNERS
Hallie was the fifth grade winner and Cassie was the seventh grade winner. Both of their essays will advance to the state level. The theme of the essay was “Woman Suffrage Movement.”

WARRIOR MURAL
“I thought it would be nice to maintain the history of the Turkey Run Schools by adding the mural to the Elementary,” said Mrs. Wilson. “The mural was such an important part of the gym for so many years, we are honored to be able to have it on display.”
The mural was printed and donated to the school by Futurex Industries.
Displaying the mural replica are Jason Thurman, Futurex; Tina Wilson, administrative assistant, Jenny Benjamin, principal and Lori Brown, photographer.
NEWS TIDBITS
BOYS’ BASKETBALL SECTIONAL 53 TICKETS- The Parke Heritage boys’ basketball team drew North Vermillion in the first round of Sectional 53. The Wolves will play the Falcons at 6:00 Friday, March 1 at North Vermillion. All-session tickets for the sectional are on sale today through Thursday, February 28 in the PH Athletic Office. All-session tickets are $10. Single session tickets will be sold at the door for $6.00.
Middle School Winter Sports Honors Night will be Wednesday, March 13 at 6:30 in the ELC. Cookies and punch will be served. High School Winter Sports Banquet will be Thursday, March 14 at 7:00 in the Cafetorium. A full meal will be served.
Turkey Run Elementary PTO will meet Tuesday, February 26 at 3:30 in library. Plans for organizing the annual Warrior Bash will be discussed. If any local business would like to sponsor the event monetarily or with a raffle donation, please have contact Jennifer Conley at conleyj@ncp.k12.in.us.
Parke Heritage High School is hosting a Concert Band festival on Friday, March 8. Also performing will be Riverton Parke, North Vermillion, and Greencastle bands. Mr. Tom Barker, a retired band director from Lafayette Jefferson High School, is the guest conductor. The concert is at 7 in the Cafetorium. The event is sponsored by the Parke County Community Foundation.
The PHHS student media class has finished scanning Rockville WRC athlete photos and the originals are now available for pickup at the high school. Please contact Mrs. Woodard at 569-5686 ext. 4135 or woodards@ncp.k12.in.us to arrange for you or a family member to pick up your photo.
