This week in SELF
In SELF this week, 11th grade students will continue their check-ins with their mentors, and discussing their stress management plan. 10th grade students will engage with a lesson about implicit bias as part of their Understanding the Brain unit, and 9th grade students will have a team-building day involving intercohort games and outside activities.
Gunn Wellness
The Wellness Center:
January was the month we asked our visitors at the wellness center to reflect on their accomplishments and challenges of the past year. This week, students were asked during flex to think about goals they have set for themselves for the rest of the school year and beyond. We wanted students to develop goals that are specific, measurable, realistic, and time-based (S.M.A.R.T). The team at the Wellness center is also developing goals for ourselves and are excited for many projects we have lined up to come to fruition and benefit our school community. Be on the lookout in future updates for news on all our upcoming events!

Gunn Counseling
2020-2021 Course Selection will run from February 10-28th. Similar to last year, students will request courses online through Infinite Campus. Be sure to check the Gunn website in the coming weeks for tutorials, forms, and the 2020-2021 Course Catalog. When considering next year's class load, we encourage you to pursue balance and allow enough time for your personal/social life, academic challenges, and extracurricular commitments. Teachers and counselors are excellent resources to explore and learn about course offerings as well as most appropriate course placement.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Please include "Alternates" when selecting courses to ensure that you are placed in classes most appealing to you. Schedule changes in the fall can only be considered for courses that are on a student's Requests/Alternates list.

Foothill Middle College Information Nights
Are you a bright, curious free-thinker who is yearning for a more mature
environment? Are you looking for a supportive and accepting community?
Are you capable of doing college level work? Foothill Middle College is now
recruiting students from Palo Alto Unified and Mountain View-Los Altos High
School Districts for next school year. Middle College is an alternative program
that serves bright students who may not be performing up to their full potential,
or students who are dissatisfied with the traditional high school environment.
Foothill Middle College will be holding 2 open houses on 3/10 and 3/18 at 6:30 in Appreciation Hall on the Foothill campus.
The program is located on the Foothill campus and offers students the
opportunity to attend both high school and college classes concurrently.
Students accepted into the Middle College program leave their home school
and take all of their classes on the Foothill College campus. Every Middle
College student completes graduation requirements and receives a diploma
from his/her home school. For more information visit the foothillmiddlecollege.org website, and contact your student's counselor.
