Greetings!
Exemptions reminders
- If you plan on exempting your classes for semester finals remember the criteria for eligibility is passing at semester with an 80 and not having more than 3 absences. 3 tardies = 1 absence.
- If you have Dr. Notes to cover your absences, you need to have them turned in by Wednesday, December 7. That is the cut off day for finals corrections.
- Students will only be allowed to exempt 3 classes. Use your picks wisely!

Drug Trends-Parent Presentation-Follow up
this is a follow up to the presentation we had earlier in the semester.
John Haenes will present a workshop to parents and teachers about the latest information on adolescent drug trends and dispel myths regarding these drugs of abuse. The workshop will included information on the behavioral effects of substance abuse with a focus on brain impact and the health risks associated with heavy use. The workshop covers topics that include:* New drug trends impacting Texas
* the impact of drugs on brain functioning
* costs to society from drug abuse
* drug paraphernalia, methods of use, and new technology in the drug culture
* review of specific drugs, including addictive potential and a look at the social, emotional, physical, and legal issues surrounding its use.John Haenes is a Licensed Master’s level Social Worker and an International Certified Prevention Specialist with 24 years of experience with substance abuse issues, juvenile delinquency, and child welfare issues. Mr. Haenes is a recognized expert in addiction and adolescent brain development, and served as the Deputy Assistant Director for Specialized Programs at Tarrant County Juvenile Services. Mr. Haenes has been a trainer for the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) the Texas Center for the Judiciary, the Texas Justice Court Training Center, the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission, Department of Family and Protective Services, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Tarrant County, and numerous Local Independent School Districts and police departments. Mr. Haenes currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer of Challenge of Tarrant County, a non-profit agency whose mission is to confront substance abuse by identifying needs, educating the community, mobilizing resources, promoting collaborations and advocating for sound public policy.
