Christ Child Academy Newsletter
April 9, 2020
From the Desk of Mr. Ruedinger
Hello CCA Parents,
As we prepare to celebrate Easter, I wanted to reach out to all the Christ Child Academy community and Thank You for your patience and support of our teachers, staff, and school as a whole during this school closure due to the CoVID-19 pandemic. With little time to prepare, our teachers have implemented E-Learning for grades 3-8 via the Google Classroom platform along with other support sites and materials. Our teachers in 3K to 2nd grade have also performed admirably with learning packets and several educational websites and shared videos. I am so proud of the passion and dedication these teachers have demonstrated to ensure the high quality of education continues in our school. Our teachers continue to reflect, adjust, and modify the E-Learning process each week to ensure student success. We do understand there has been some frustration experienced at home by both students and parents with this learning curve, but by working together with the teachers, we will all succeed during these trying times.
Due to the school closure, several school activities and events are or will be canceled. We will keep you posted via newsletter, email, and Facebook when such events are canceled.
The Wisconsin Forward Assessment in grades 3-8 are cancelled as well as the MAP testing for students in grades K -2.
All field trips have been canceled through August 31, 2020.
Be sure to check out upcoming optional Spirit Days. Fun for the whole family!

I would like to share information regarding the CoVID-19 and the impact for the Christ Child Academy community. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee is in the planning stages for how CoVID-19 could impact the overall implications to schools within the Archdiocese and of the State as a whole.
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the risk to the American Public for those not exposed to CoVID-19 is low. However, the situation is rapidly evolving, and we will do our best to keep you appraised. The CDC and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services are providing daily updates on their websites:
Symptoms of CoVID-19 are similar to the seasonal flu, and include:
· Shortness of breath
We know that a student has the greatest opportunity to learn when he or she is present in school. We need to make sure that students and parents understand it is acceptable, actually preferable, that they stay home when sick. Health trumps attendance.
Please refer to the attached document titled, “When To Keep Your Child Home” which are recommendations from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health.
Prevention strategies for students and parents:
· Practice good hand washing, wash hands in warm water for at least 20 seconds while scrubbing with soap.
· Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.
· Use a tissue when coughing or sneezing and properly dispose of it or cough into your elbow/sleeve if a tissue is not available.
· Do not touch your mouth, nose or eyes. If you do, wash your hands immediately.
· Clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces in your home including doorknobs, light switches, computer keyboards, laptops, and cell phones.
We will continue to update the Christ Child Academy community as the need arises.

A Note from the CCA Athletic Committee
The CCA Athletic Committee Brat Fry scheduled for Saturday, April 25th at Miesfeld's has been cancelled.
Standards Based Grading
During this school year, Christ Child Academy will be transitioning from a traditional grading system to standards based grading system, which will go into effect for the 2020-2021 school year. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has strongly recommended that all schools move to this reporting framework.
As we proceed through this transition over the next year, please know that our goal of academic excellence remains our priority. These "best practices" will enable parents to fully understand where their child is academically while at the same time motivating students to become life-learners.
The Parenting Guide to Standards Based Grading will provide valuable insight during this transition. Additional information will be coming in the following weeks.
CCA Annual Fund
The 2019 CCA Annual Fund appeal continues. Please support our school and share the link below often.
Your generous gift to the Christ Child Academy Annual Fund makes a difference in the lives of our students. The funds raised will provide excellent academic and athletic programs, curriculum materials, and technology for both the students and staff; it will ensure the ability to carry out our school’s mission on a daily basis. Your gift will also enable us to maintain affordable tuition for all families.
You received an Annual Fund Contribution Form in the mail in November to donate or you may visit our online site at the link below. Feel free to share this link with all your friends and family via social media.
We appreciate your support and you may donate to this fund until June 30, 2020.
