Kick Axe Wellness Challenge

About the Challenge

Employee Wellness is putting on a Wellness Challenge for the employee's of Stephen F. Austin State University. To participant, you need to create a team of four SFA employee's. There will be weekly events that you can attend to gain points and be the winning team at the end of each week and overall at the end of the challenge! Also we will be giving away prizes at the end of the challenge. There will be a luncheon to commend everyone on their hard work.

Getting Started

Registration and Weekly Themes

This will be a five week challenge, with each week having a theme. The themes will go along with the dimensions of wellness.

Week 1(2/2): Physical Wellness/Goal setting

Week 2(2/9): Emotional/Spiritual Wellness

Week 3(2/16): Intellectual Wellness

Week 4(2/23): Financial/Career/Environmental Wellness

Week 5(3/2): Social/Cultural Wellness

The deadline for turning in the points that are earned for each week will be on Wednesdays.

To register, you can fill out an online registration form or you can email to get a paper copy of it and turn it in.

Points and Scorecards

Points will be given to those who attend events on the weekly calendar. When filling out your score card, you will enter in your points if you attended any events. The point system is determined on how beneficial we believe the event to be. The scorecards can either be done through the Google doc or through an excel sheet. If the whole teams scorecards are turned in on time there will be extra points given.

Events and Challenges

Each week there will be more than one event that is going on. We encourage you to attend all events but know that sometimes it is not possible. So please attend when you can.

The challenge is to increase your overall wellness.

The more points you earn that better your chances are of winning in the end.

Increase Your Physical Wellness and Create S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Physical Wellness

Ways to increase your physical wellness:

  • Increase your physical activity
  • Eat 5 servings of vegetables and fruits daily
  • Drink 8 glasses of water a day
  • Sleep at least 7 hours each night

Goal Setting

Use S.M.A.R.T. to set your goals


  • state what you are trying to achieve


  • How will you know if progress is being made


  • Are there factors that could prevent you from accomplishing your goal


  • What values in your life does this goal reflect


  • How long will it take to reach your goal
