Updates from the Principal
Greetings Firebird Nation Families -
Happy Friday...and...it's the Friday before our return to In-Person Learning! We are so excited to see students back in our classrooms and hallways beginning this Monday, January 25th! I am going to keep my update fairly short as this is a long newsletter with many reminders and announcements. Please make sure to review all of this information and share the key reminders with you student(s). We want to make sure that they are prepared to be back at FMS this next week.
Thank you to all of our parents for completing our Athletics program survey. Our Athletic Director, Mrs. Forehand, is using this information to advocate for what we can do at FMS. We hope to have some additional announcements out within the next couple of weeks as to what we will be able to do for our athletes and programs.
Don't forget...we made an adjustment to the week of February 15th. This is due to the school being closed for President's Day on Monday, February 15th. During this week ONLY, we will have A-J cohorts on Tuesday and Wednesday and K-Z cohorts on Thursday and Friday. We will follow the full bell schedule Tuesday through Friday during the week of February 15th. Our normal days for each cohort and weekly schedule will resume the following Monday, February 22nd.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! We look forward to seeing our students back for In-Person Learning starting next week!
Sincerely,
Brian Smith
Executive Principal
Falcon Middle School
Welcome Back to In-Person Learning!

- Students with last names K-Z are In-Person on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- Students participate in E-Learning on the days that they are not in-person.
- Fridays will continue to follow our FLEX Schedule.
- Bring your Chromebook and the charger
- Bring a water bottle
- Wear your Student ID - Earn those PBIS Points!
- Wear your mask and bring a back up mask just in case
- Do your best to Socially Distance from others (6 feet is ideal - Full Firebird Wings)
- Bring your backpack with your supplies. Remember there are no lockers.
- Remember that lunch will be outside in the Stadium if weather is nice.
- Don't forget that bathrooms are labeled for specific grade levels and there is a waiting area outside of them to minimize how many are in the bathroom at a time.
- When arriving at FMS in the morning, meet in your designated spot for your grade level:
6th grade meets at the Gaga-Ball Pit area and is released at 7:40am
7th grade meets at the Baseball Field (behind school) and is released at 7:43am
8th grade meets at the Softball Field (by the Commons) and is released at 7:46am
Additional Information can be reviewed in our Return to Learn Plan.
Please take a look at our Return to Learn Video below from Earlier this Year for additional reminders.
Reminders about our Traffic Pattern
We also want to ensure we are being good neighbors to our neighborhoods around the school. Please make sure to not block any driveways as well as any of the entrances and exits to these neighborhoods. Our traffic pattern flows pretty well overall and we encourage everyone to use this within the lots at FMS.
Please watch our video below that overviews how our drop-off and pick-up lanes work at the middle school.
Winter picture day for new students (and students that missed the first picture day) will be on February 2 & 3.
- You are a new FMS student since October 8, 2020
- You missed the October Picture Day
- Your parents want you to re-take your photo
- If, in your first photo, you were wearing a mask, a hat, or anything not within school regulations, you must re-take your photo. Otherwise your photo will not be in the yearbook.
New Military Family Life Counselor at FMS
I will be at Falcon Middle School on Monday's and Thursday's and some Friday's as well. If you have questions about the non-medical, brief, and solution-focused counseling services I can provide, please call me at (719) 246-0729 or email me at con-mfoster@d49.org. Attached is the consent form giving me your permission to meet with your student. To begin services please return that to the school counseling department at FMS.
