🐋AUGUST 2022~~ BACK TO SCHOOL EDITION
Notes from Mrs. Roberson
Greetings!
It is so wonderful to have a building full of Willbern Whales once again! Seeing familiar faces and learning new ones at the beginning of the year is always a treat. From the stories we are hearing it sounds as though everyone had a great summer vacation.
I am writing this on the 3rd day of school and students are doing a great job of following school procedures and expectations. As you know, we have expectations for how to "Keep it REAL (Respect,Excel,Accountable,Leader) for each part of the building. I have included below the matrices we ask student to follow. I encourage you to talk to your child about these and maybe even consider talking about how they can "Keep it REAL" at home! I have also included a video about PBIS Rewards that we use at Willbern to recognize REAL behavior. Students earn points that can be redeemed in a number of ways:
- School Store
- Teacher Stores
- Raffles
- Special Events
On Tuesday, August 23rd we sent home the PBIS Rewards Parent letter with directions on how to download the parent version of the app. This app will send the parent notifications when their child has received recognition points. It will also notify you if the child receives and discipline referral. Please contact homeroom teachers if you need a new letter!
I want to thank all our parents for your patience with transportation the first week of school. It takes awhile for students to learn their car rider and bus number; for parents and bus drivers to learn new routes and routines; and we've already to deal with rain during dismissal. The primary reason for confusion about bus schedules and drop off is that we are no longer the first round of busses. This means parents will see busses in their neighborhood carrying middle and high school students BEFORE our students are picked up. This was the reason for our school hours to change this year.
I hope to see all of you at our Open Houses in September. This is always a great opportunity to learn more about your child's teacher, new curriculum, volunteer opportunities and more!
We are very excited to be celebrating Willbern's 30 years of service in this community. Keep your eyes open for many opportunities to celebrate throughout the year!!
