PTO Moving Forward
I’d like to take this opportunity to share with you the rest of our calendar years’ events from a PTO point of view. Thank you to those of you who I’ve already had the privilege of working with so far this school year. We couldn’t have done any of it without your support!!
At the last meeting, I stated that I believe that there is someone else out there who is more qualified, and perhaps has a little more time to dedicate to this position of President. I do NOT intend on quitting PTO altogether, as there are several areas that I do feel that I can handle and am passionate about. I just cannot continue on as President at Lakeview. So…why do I share this with YOU??? You probably know someone (or it just might be you?) that is seeking the opportunity to fill this role, but just didn’t know it was available. Would you all be so kind as to help me find a replacement so that Lakeview can continue to have a healthy PTO eager to serve our kids and staff in the BEST possible way using all of our gifts of time and talent? I should mention that there are many other open roles that need filled. We struggled to find co-chairs. We’ve been relying on the same select handful of people for chaperoning each event this year. We could always use more help behind the scenes. We need more voices at the monthly PTO meetings! Where might you fit in? I can assure you that there’s a place for you!!! All are welcome!
As far as the needs for the rest of our year and our calendar of events:
-Staff Appreciation luncheon for Feb will be on 2/14 (Sweet treats/ Ice cream sundae bar)
-PTO is sponsoring an event hosting the acclaimed Norman Shub, on Mon, March 6th 7-8:30 pm. The topic will be “Coping with Stress & Anxiety.” We are excited to be able to fund this for our parents/caregivers to receive this FREE training seminar. We have not yet worked out the full details, but are thinking we’ll get more parents to attend and take advantage if there is also an event for our students at the same time (ie, kickball/dodgeball/chess tourney??) *ANY input here is welcomed! Look for the flyer coming soon!
-Fri, March 10th @ 7pm is our final Teen Night (Theme: “Over the Rainbow”) There will be a costume contest/“best dressed” prize and we are including Karaoke this time around. We’re hopeful that the kids will have fun with this as St. Patty’s Day will be right around the corner!
-Staff Appreciation Luncheon for March will be on 3/14 (after school conferences, theme: March Madness)
-Fri, April 7th 6-8 pm we are bringing a Talent Show to Lakeview! There will also be TWO rehearsal nights leading up to the event. Wed, 4/5 and Thur, 4/6 after school from 2:30-3:30. *We will need help with putting together a Program for the event, and will be asking for donated baked goods to sell as well.
-Staff Appreciation Luncheon for April will be on 4/11 (Spring treats)
-Staff Appreciation Week is the first week in May (May 1-5). *We still need to determine a theme! (I should note that last year only 3 volunteers helped with this week. Ideally, I’d love to see a few people work together on each day in order to make this super successful and let the staff know just how much we value them!!!) Also, last year we did not have a “theme” but made sure that each day the staff received something with a homemade touch to it. For the sake of not duplicating what we gifted them with, the ideas we used last year were: A pack of colored sharpies, a pack of Extra gum, a spring bulb, a muffin, and bath bombs w/ 15 min neck/shoulder massage. Our budget was VERY small last year, so I’m hopeful that you’ll have ideas for a theme and ways to make it even better this year. We got feedback that they really did enjoy what we did, but we can do better!!!
-May Dance is Sat, May 13th. The Student Council is in charge of this event, but has asked for PTO help in the set-up & tear-down.
-Staff Appreciation Luncheon for May will be on 5/16 (Mexican fiesta)
Sally Simone will be sending out separate Sign-Up Genius emails looking to fill the food item requests.
If you are interested in helping out in any way, please reach out to me directly at my email listed below.
