School Spirit Day
A Thanksgiving message from our Principals
As we reflect upon the things we are thankful for during this time of the year, we wanted to share a few of them with you: we are thankful for our dedicated students who come to school each day, "Here and Ready" to learn and grow and remind us why we became educators; we are thankful for our exemplary staff who work tirelessly to provide the highest quality education for the whole child; we are thankful for the parents and guardians of the Wescott community who partner with us every step of the way each and every day.
We hope that you all find time to enjoy the time off starting Wednesday next week. Have a happy, healthy, relaxing break!
With thanks,
Dr. Chris Brown and Mrs. Katie Compagno
Wescott in the news!
Did you see Wescott featured this past week in Patch and the Chicago Tribune/Northbrook Star? (Click below to read.) Both articles highlighted the school's donation to Honor Flight from money raised through students' fall lemonade stand, as well as the 4th-grade show "Everyday Heroes!" That's a Wescott Wow for the whole school!
Next chance to share you input is Nov. 29
All community members are invited at noon or 6 p.m. November 29 for our latest opportunity to meet with Superintendent Dr. Emily Tammaru and a member of our Board of Education to ask questions and share thoughts on what's important to you in our schools. Click here or below to join us!
'Coat Off Your Back' drive runs through Dec. 15
District 30 is participating in Rotary Club of Northbrook's annual Coat Off Your Back Drive now through Dec. 15. New and like-new coats for infants, children, teens and adults of all genders can be donated in bins at Wescott and Maple. Hats, gloves, scarves in new condition are also accepted.
Donations will benefit area organizations that include: Connections for the Homeless; PADS of Lake County; Wings; North Shore Helpers; The Veterans Closet; Refugee One; World Relief; HIAS; ECC; Stock the Shelves; Deerfield Free Store.
Thank you for helping those in need in our community!
Multicultural Night is Jan. 26 at Maple
The second annual Multicultural Night presented by Wescott and Willowbrook will be January 26, 2024, 5:30-7:30pm, at Maple School. The event is open to all Wescott and Willowbrook families.
Sign up below to host a table from the country/culture of your choice and showcase its unique cultures and traditions. Tables should be set up so that students can experience cultural activities at each table and/or enjoy delicious ethnic snacks. The event will serve as a window for the students to see the rich cultures in our community and an opportunity for families from different cultural backgrounds to showcase their heritages.
If you are interested in hosting a booth, please click to sign up below. For any questions, please contact committee chair, amandadae@gmail.com
Club Corner
The Knitting Club has been hard at work getting ready for the cold weather. Here they are sporting their new creations.
Our hats off to you, knitters!

Cold weather gear
The winter weather is upon us and students need to come to school dressed for the weather. Recess is held outside when the wind chill is 13 F and above. Children need to be wearing a winter jacket, hat, gloves and snow pants to be allowed to play in the snow. Remember to label your children’s clothing!
Help support the Wescott PE Program!
Make a difference
The Wescott Helping Hands Committee is collecting pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. The pop tabs will be recycled and the money is used to help support the families that stay there. Students can bring their pop tabs to their teachers for collection. Classes are collecting pop tabs all year long!
