Introduction

Testable Question: How does the type of circuit affect the strand of Christmas lights with a burned out bulb?

Hypothesis1: If the Christmas lights are in a parallel circuit then one bulb will burst and the others will light up.

Hypothesis 2: If the Christmas lights are in a series circuit then one bulb will burst and the others won't light up.

Parralel Circuit

Observations: All three bulbs light up when we put the battery in.

Observation: All of the bulbs light up even if you take one bulb out.

Series Circuit

Observation: The three bulbs were not as bright with one battery.

Observation: The two bulbs lit up a little more with one battery than with three bulbs and one battery.

conclusion

As you can see parallel is a better choice for lighting. This is because you can see it has more lights at the end. While series has 0 at the end parallel has 2. This is why parallel is a better choice.
