P.S. 212Q Weekly Update
January 14th For week of January 17-21, 2022
Everyone Grows at P.S. 212Q!
Our vision for all learners the principal, the staff, and most importantly our students is continuous growth and improvement.
Stemming from our work with the District 30 NYS Integration Grant which fully aligns with our mission and vision, we are a Habits of Mind School!
We are going to highlight and focus on Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations (see below) for the next few weeks to begin building the soft skills required to be successful in life, school, work, and play.
“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, learning from failure.”
Colin Powell
Week 18
Dear Families,
Thank you again for sending your children to school this week! We are open and we are safe. Our children need the stability of in-person learning in school, now more than ever. Our cases have come down and I am hopeful that cases will continue to reduce each day.
We will continue to provide staff with home-test kits every week in January. Any students who go home with symptoms will receive an at-home test kit. Any class where we are notified of a positive case will also continue to receive at-home test kits one time per week. Guidance from the DOE is updated daily and we are doing our best to stay on top of the most current information. I realize this is frustrating and scary for some. We are not always notified about positive cases, until sometimes days later. Again, we are working on the honor system. Also sometimes the entire family is sick and they are not able to contact the school or have difficulty communicating. We are always considering that all parents have the best intentions and are doing the best you can. We do not want to live in or encourage a fear-based environment. We are here for you!
- We encourage you to get your child vaccinated.
- We encourage you to use the digital version of the Health Screener, questions are updated by the DOE to reflect changes.
- Children should wash their hands frequently and wear a well-fitting mask.

Wear Your Mask!
- Fully cover their mouth and nose.
- Snuggly fit around their ears so there are no gaps.
It is cold and flu season and unfortunately, COVID-19 is still here. There is an uptick in cases all across the city and we have families who are suffering with this systemic illness as you read this.
We have clean and sanitized face masks to provide to all children to wear. Teachers will provide a mask whenever we see a student with a mask that is too loose and students need to comply. This is for the safety of our entire community and it is a Department of Education requirement.
We thank you for your support.
