Pearl Harbor: Bombed!
The Bombing
On the morning of December 7, 1941, The Japanese carried out a surprise bombing on the U.S. naval base located in Pearl Harbor. The attack came in two waves, the first wave at around 8:00, consisting of 181 planes, and the second around 8:30, consisting of 170. It lasted two hours, and thousands were killed. This is part of their plan to take over the Pacific.
Immediate Effects:
- 2,403 American casualties (68 civilians)
- 1,178 Americans wounded
- 188 Aircrafts destroyed
- 159 Aircrafts damaged
- All of the 8 U.S. Navy battleships damaged; 4 were sunk
