Portola Springs Elementary
Back to School Information- Part 1
Dear Grizzly Family,
The energy around school is palpable! We have 9 more days until our campus is buzzing with students and staff. While every beginning of the school year is exciting, this year has a special feel knowing that we will be back together again.
As you prepare your child and your family for the back to school routines, I wanted to push out the first of several emails containing details and important information. In this newsletter you will find school supply list links, introductions to new staff, and data confirmation instructions. In the coming days, look for more information about what to bring on day 1, pick up and drop off instructions, and much more.
Looking forward to a G.R.E.A.T. year ahead.
In anticipation,
Megan Bricker
Principal

Free Lunch for ALL Students This Year
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced that they will reimburse school districts for free meals to all students, regardless of income in the upcoming school year.
As a result, meals for IUSD students during the 2021-22 school year will be free.
While meals are free for all students, families are encouraged to complete a free or reduced price meal application to ensure your students receive additional benefits to which they may be entitled. If approved, these applications may qualify families for Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) Cards issued by the State of California, discounted college application fees, discounted Advanced Placement (AP) test fees, discounted school events, and discounted utilities through your gas, electricity, internet, or phone providers. These applications also benefit your school by providing supplemental funding through the Local Control Funding Formula, and funding support staff, computers and technology. You do not have to be United States citizens to qualify for free meals.
Our application for Free or Reduced-Price Meals is now available online for the 2021-22 school year. Please visit family.titank12.com to complete an application.
To ensure that your child receives the additional benefits for which your family may qualify, please submit a Free or Reduced-Price Meal Application for this school year as soon as possible.
- Parents who are certain that their students do not qualify are not required to submit an application. All IUSD students will still receive free meals this year.
- Parents who have already received a letter notifying them that their students are qualified for free or reduced price meals do not need an application.
