Last Days

It's crazy to think we are so close to the end of the school year! Only two weeks left!! Thank you for all the thoughtful gifts this week. I have thoroughly enjoyed this year and I am thankful I am able to be a part of your child's life. This will be the last newsletter of the year and because there is so much happening in the last two weeks, I wanted to make sure you have a hard copy of all the dates and events in one place!

Middle School Trip

On Monday, May 9th, our class will head over to the middle school to get more familiar with the layout of the school, meet some of their teachers and learn about some of the expectations and procedures for next year!


On Tuesday, May 17th, our class will join Mr. Taylor's class to participate in a variety of activities related to the Civil War. Our activities will begin at 12:45 pm and end around 2:30pm. This event will take place outside, so please make sure your child dresses accordingly. This event may be rescheduled to May 18th if the weather is poor on Tuesday.

Fun in the Sun

On Friday, May 13th, the Van PTA will hold its annual Fun-in-the-Sun day. This is a day that the students look forward to each year and is filled with fun activities!

Skating Party

On Tuesday, May 17th, the Van PTA is sponsoring a skating party for the 5th grade students at Bazz's Roller Rink. This event is free for all current fifth grade students. Please join in the fun from 6-8!

Movie Field Trip

MONEY AND PERMISSION SLIP DUE FRIDAY, MAY 13th


We will be taking a walking field trip to Ritz Cinema to watch Zootopia. They will have popcorn and a drink as they watch the movie. Please be sure to send a sack lunch for our picnic lunch in the park after!

Promotion Ceremony

On Friday, May 20th, we will be celebrating our last day as fifth graders at Van. They ceremony will begin at 10:00 and is expected to conclude around 11:30. Students may eat cookies and punch after the ceremony. Seating is limited to two people per child.

End of the Year Celebrations

We are working hard to meet many of our goals and celebrate when we meet them with a variety of celebrations. Each of us set a goal for reading, math and behavior. I am so excited to celebrate all the hard work we have accomplished this year!
