Parent Survey
Dear Families,
To better understand the needs of our students, we are participating in the Association for Middle Level Education’s Successful Middle School Assessment. This survey is designed to help us understand our current implementation of practices research indicates are especially effective for middle school-aged students and gives you the opportunity to lend your voice and share your perspective so we can make good choices for current and future students.
The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is fully anonymous. We ask that you please answer every question. The data we collect from families will be considered alongside responses from staff and students and will guide the Association for Middle Level Education to offer recommendations that will help us continue to meet the needs of our students. We ask that you please complete the survey by clicking here. (Spanish click here)
We appreciate you taking the time to lend your voice. If you have any questions, please see your grade level administrator.
Sincerely,
Brad Martz
Principal
Student Survey
Attached is the student survey that we will be having our students complete next week. The purpose of the survey is to capture student voice in regards to RMS. Please take a moment to review the survey and if you have any questions or would like to have your student opt out of the survey please let the office staff know.
Pedestrians Crossing
Ensuring the safety of staff and students is a top priority at RMS. As such, we kindly request that drivers give right of way to pedestrian traffic when entering and exiting the parking lot. We have many students who rely on our crossing guard to safely navigate the busy 32 mile road and east entrance before and after school. By being mindful of pedestrians and following traffic rules, we can create a safer environment for everyone.

America & Me Essay Contest
Ready to earn big money just by writing about your Michigan hero?
This year 8th graders have the chance to win $1,055 and an additional $1,055 for RMS by entering the 55th annual writing contest.
Join the hundreds of other 8th graders across the state and write about your personal Michigan hero. This could be any Michigan resident who you admire and respect.
Remember your essay needs to be no more than 500 words and is for 8th graders only. The top 10 winners from the state will each win $1000 and a special day of VIP treatment in Lansing. (The fourth-place essay was from an RMS student just two years ago!)
If you have any questions please see your ELA teacher. Once your entry is done, you can see or share it with Mrs. Paulson for official entry into the contest.
All entries must be completed by November 1 - no exceptions.
Good luck!

- Every Wednesday in October, students can sport college gear to support their favorite college or university!
- The most important thing we can do is instill kindness in our children and teach them to respect each other. Each day at RMS we try to make sure all of our students feel supported and included. Please have conversations with your child about how he or she feels connected to others in school.
6th Grade Parents - Mrs. Bazner is currently out on maternity leave. While she is gone, Mrs. Bjorkstrand and Mrs. Skover will be making sure that our 6th grade students have access to counseling support. Mrs. Skover will support 6th grade students with last names beginning with A - LA and Mrs. Bjorkstrand will be supporting students with last names beginning with LE -Z. Please feel free to contact either of them if you have any questions or concerns.
7th Grade Parents - Our 7th grade students will be wrapping up their Xello unit next week. Please have discussions with your child about the career clusters they have chosen and have them show you the Xello site. There is a lot of information about a variety of career choices and post-secondary options.
8th Grade Parents- Students should continue to work on their Xello activities in school and outside of school. Please encourage career and post-high school education conversations at home 🙂
