Field Flash

August 13, 2021

Dear Field Parents and Guardians,

We hope you are all enjoying the remaining days of summer break! We are looking forward to our first day of school on Thursday, August 19th (grades 1-5). That day is our Kindergarten Orientation for parents and kindergarten students (more details on that below). Kindergarten students will have their first day of school on Friday, August 20th.

This newsletter includes information about arrival & dismissal, bus transportation, lunch ordering, and upcoming events and dates. Much of this information was also shared last Friday, too. We hope this information is helpful to you as we prepare for the start of the year. Please also be sure to read and review the latest email from Dr. Olson which included the District's health & safety plan. It was approved by the Board of Education last night and shared with all parents today via email.

In terms of school supplies, if your child purchased supplies through PTO, we have those here in the classroom. If your child is bringing school supplies with on the first day, please bring what your child can carry. If you need to break the supplies up over the first day or two, that's fine! We hope to bring back our supply drop-off event next school year when we can have more people coming and going from the building.

Speaking of visitors inside the building, for now, we are limiting visitors inside the building to those that are related to essential tasks and projects. So, for now, we will not have volunteers in classrooms, guest readers, etc. We are hopeful we'll be able to have more visitors in the building as the year progresses. When you do visit the building, please remember we require your photo ID to enter.

We are looking forward to seeing students this upcoming week! Have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Courtney Goodman

Principal

Bus Information

If your child rides the bus to and from school, you should have received a separate email from our Business Office about your child's bus stop and route. Please note: all eligible bus riders received an email. If your child will not be riding the bus, please call Ruth in our main office. If you have questions, please call the main office here at Field. Ruth or Jillian can assist you.

On the first day of school, your bus rider will receive a tag for his or her backpack. Thank you in advance for keeping that tag attached to the child's backpack!

Please note that mask wearing is required on all school busses, and students will be assigned a seat for the route to and from school.

Lunch Information

All students will eat in lunch in one of our large group spaces (north gym, south gym, or MPR). Students will sit at tables in assigned seats by homeroom. Students are able to bring their lunch from home or purchase a lunch in advance. If you are interested in ordering lunch from Quest, please visit our website linked here for more information. Lunch orders are due by Thursday at midnight for the following week. As a reminder, we do not allow lunches to be delivered to students from outside vendors or restaurants. If your child forgets his or her lunch at home, you are able to drop it by the main office and we'll deliver it to them.

Children are also permitted to leave school for lunch. Parents need to come to the main office and sign out their child(ren). Students would remain home for the full hour of lunch/recess.

Student Benchmark Assessments

During the week of August 23rd, students in grades 2-5 will take the NWEA MAP test for both reading and math. Students will learn about their specific schedule for testing from their classroom teacher. Students are reminded to put forth their best effort, get a good night's sleep, and eat a healthy breakfast each day! Students MAP results will help their teachers plan learning activities.
