Tundra
Scientific Name- Calliergon giganteum
The Tundra is the coldest of Biomes. Tundra comes from the word tunturi, meaning treeless plain. The average winter temperature is -30 degrees, the average summer temperature is 37-54 degrees.
Arctic Moss is one of the only plants in the Tundra. Arctic Moss is an underwater plant. It adapted to the climate by being able to store energy when its not growing. Like most of the plants in the Tundra, it grows low to the ground to avoid wind and freezing cold.
Temperate Deciduous Forest
Scientific Name- Bryophyta
The Temperate Deciduous Forest is one biome that is always changing. It has four seasons, winter, spring, summer, and fall. Winter being cold and summer being hot. The temperate deciduous forest get about 30-60 inches of precipitation every year.
Moss is a rootless plant. Since they are rootless, they can grow anywhere the right nutrients are provided and the climate is right. Moss normally grows all close together. This is so they can survive and reproduce better.

Desert
Scientific Name- Cactaceae
Deserts are arid or dry areas. They get less than 10 inches of precipitation a year. Deserts are large areas with a low vegetation cover. Deserts occupy about one-quarter of earths land surface.
Cacti have shallow roots, fixed spines, and thick stems. These all help the plant survive in the conditions of the desert. Each allow cacti to store water more efficiency in the environment with less water.
Rain Forest
Scientific Name- Orchidaceae
The rain forest is descried like a "tall jungle". There is a high amount of rain fall each year. The climate is very hot and humid.
Orchids have very large roots. This helps them absorb water and nutrients. Orchids also have an extra root system that enables them to store water for dry periods.

Coniferous Forest
Scientific Name- Tracheophyta
Coniferous Forest's have long cold snowy winters and warm and humid summers. Getting about 300 to 900 millimeters of rain each year. Winters being as cold as -40 degrees. and summers being around 50 degrees.
Ferns only grow in areas that are moist. Their vein structure promotes the flow of water and nutrients. They mostly grow in shaded areas along streams or creeks.
