A Note from Superintendent Schwamman

Dear Wildcat Families,

The school year is flying by and our students and staff are having a fantastic year! March Madness is in full effect and I am talking about the weather! Thank you for your patience as Mother Nature does not want to stop! Great news is the daylight is getting longer, the sun higher in the sky and temperatures getting warmer! Any snow now will not last too long. We are all ready and spring is almost here! A reminder to SPRING FORWARD and move the clocks ahead Saturday night.

I have attached a school finance graphic to share some basic information as to where the money comes from for our school and where the money can be spent. This is a very complex funding formula and as the legislature is now moving to fund private and charter schools things will continue to change. We will be doing more in depth education for community members and parents as we move forward. We do look at our school finances at our monthly school board meeting. These are on the 4th Monday of the month at 6:30 PM in our boardroom. Agendas are posted ahead of time as per Iowa Code and minutes posted on our school website.

We have spring testing (FAST, ISASP) coming up as well as our Conditions of Learning Survey. It is very important that students try to do their best and we have great participation so that we continue to show growth and improvements as we have as a district the last few years! We appreciate all that you do as parents and if you have any questions of feedback please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Happy Spring!
