Getting Back on Track After the Holidays!
Although breaks from a normal routine are fun, getting back in the swing of things can be tiresome and overwhelming! Post-holiday recovery may be difficult, but it is not impossible. Here are a few helpful hints/strategies to help your family get back on track!
1. Bringing Back a Consistent Bedtime Routine- A consistent routine helps to cue the brain that sleep is coming. To help initiate the wind down process, introduce your child to the practice of “Mindfulness”. Visit: Sleep and Relaxation and/or Mindful Games for Sleep
2. Goal Setting – Setting specific goals can help students feel confident, promotes a life-long habit, and empowers students with a “can-do” attitude. For information and ideas on helping your child learn to set goals, visit: Big Life Journal “People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going.”- Earl Nightingale
3. Reclaim the Screen - Start off the new year with a digital allowance. To learn more, visit: Minimize Screen Time
Remember, as caregivers you set the tone for how a child navigates the journey back to school. Be positive and proactive. Talk to your child about their first days back and help them get organized for success.
