February 16, 2024 Principal's Message
Hello Blevins Families,
We've had another exciting week at Blevins! Mr. Floyd's Orchestra classes and Mr. Sachtleben's Band classes visited our elementary schools to perform for future Bruin musicians. I'd like to also give a big shout out to some wonderful members of our Blevins staff. It is Classified Staff Appreciation Week and we couldn't thrive in the way that we do without our paraprofessionals, tutors, front office staff, student services team, custodians, media tech team, and nutritional services. They are the glue that holds us together! And a shout out to Officer Shaklee, who works tirelessly for our safety, as Thursday was SRO Appreciation Day.
Thanks again to our amazing PTO who gifted our staff with a coffee cart on Wednesday. It was just the pick-me-up that we needed. We can't express enough how much we appreciate our Blevins families for their support.
There is no school on Monday. I hope our students learn about some important Americans because it is Presidents' Day! As a staff, we will have a Professional Development Day. We're going to spend time on strategies that increase our students' capacity to thrive and connect in school, while also spending time on Project-Based Learning. We'll also be preparing for Parent-Teacher Conferences that will take place on Thursday night. If you haven't heard from your child's teachers yet, and would like to set up a conference, please feel free to reach out to them.
Please join me for SAC on Tuesday, Feb. 20th from 5:30-6:30pm. We will discuss planning for the '24-'25 school year. We will also review the results from this survey! If you would please take a few minutes to provide feedback on school year planning, it would be so helpful.
Thanks for your continued partnership. Let's Go, Bruins!
Proudly,
Joe Zappa, Principal

I hope to receive your thoughts as we consider how students engage in their academic progress at Blevins. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey so that we can gather your input as we plan for the new year.

Hello Blevins Community!
Next Thursday 2/22, the PTO is hosting a potluck and snacks for our teachers during conference times. This is an annual tradition that we support so that our teachers are able to enjoy a freshly prepared meal at school when they are too busy to go out and get food.
If you are able to, we are looking for several items to be donated/prepared, as well as help setting up and cleaning up. Please see the link below for more information. Please have items to Blevins by 2pm on Thursday February 22nd.
