Students: Do you have a story, an experience, a new talent, or surprising skill that emerged during COVID-19? Leadership class is collecting info from students/staff who might be interested in participating in BOLT this spring (in an in-person OR virtual event). This year’s BOLT event, "Stepping out of the Storm," will focus on sharing what we've learned and overcome, the new things we've discovered, and how we've each grown since last March when our worlds turned upside down. Fill out this quick survey to express interest so we can connect about auditions, format, and all the ways your voice can be heard at school: https://forms.gle/azkdAKv33HPeuwj29
Avant/STAMP World Language Proficiency Exam
Students have the opportunity to earn up to 4 high school credits by demonstrating mastery of a language other than English. Students that are interested in completing the AVANT/STAMP World Language Proficiency Exam need to complete this interest form: https://forms.gle/X3U25WtG27uG8ZY2A
More information on exam dates will be coming soon.
SHHHH…. Record a Flipgrid message to our teachers and staff!
Skyview Students and Community,
Our teachers and staff would love to hear some positive messages and thoughts from you before the Holiday Break happens. These videos will only be seen by your teachers. Please keep it general, not to a single teacher specifically (we want everyone to feel recognized!). This is going to be a surprise that we will show them at our last staff meeting on Wednesday December 16th.
Please hop in to the flipgrid here and share something positive:
Something you have enjoyed about remote learning
Some things teachers have done to make learning fun
A positive message for them heading into the Holiday season
Click here for the flipgrid: https://flipgrid.com/bc4eb907
If you have any questions, please send me an email! ian.mansfield@vansd.org
Attendance matters during remote learning!
Students are in attendance when they make contact with a teacher or access Canvas within 24 hours on school days. If there is no contact or access, it will be counted as an absence, and you will receive a phone call, email, and text message. If your child performs one of these actions and an attendance message is sent in error, please let us know.
Messages will be sent around 4:45 p.m. for the previous school day and on Mondays if a student did not participate on the previous Friday. Absences can be excused by notifying the school within three days. To excuse an absence, you can call 360-313-4220, email skyview.attendance@vansd.org or enter the absence in your Family Access account. You have 3 days to excuse an absence. Excusable reasons - Health Care Appointment, Illness, Family Activity, Family Emergency, Pre-Arranged Absence. You can check Skyward Parent Access to see what class is marked Unexcused.
In order for your student NOT to be marked absent for a period -
A- attend ZOOM class; and/or
B- log on to CANVAS for class that day; and/or
C- connect with the teacher

Athletics
Beginning Monday, Oct 6, VPS will be allowing coaches to work with small "pods" of student-athletes in alignment with WIAA guidelines for Phase 2 of Washington's Safe Start plan. This is a unique opportunity for our athletic programs to lead and demonstrate how students can safely return to some form of in-person activities in a responsible and safe manner. Listed below are documents needed for participation and a description of the guidelines that will be followed. Skyview Athletics is thankful for the opportunity to connect with our athletes during these times.
Students will need to complete and turn in the COVID Screening and Waiver Form prior to participating.
Coaches and student-athletes will need to strictly adhere to the COVID Workout Guidelines.
Coaches will also screen student-athletes each day for COVID symptoms and take and record temperatures.
All activities and workouts must occur outside of regular school hours so that there is no disruption to classes.
This is entirely voluntary for both coaches and students.
Fall Virtual Games- Unified Sports!
Though we may not be at school, Special Olympics of Washington has created an experience that our athletes can participate in Virtually! The Skyview Athletics and Unified Rally Club are calling all Unified athletes and partners to participate in the 2020 Fall Virtual games representing Skyview High School.
Please see the flyer with all information here
