Students will continue writing original myths. They will revise and edit drafts to complete Portfolio 3 as they begin a poetry unit.
Students will work on solving problems that involve dividing fractions and mixed numbers. Students will learn easy-to-follow steps to divide fractions and they will also use models to explain what is happening when they divide fractions. Students should be commended on their work on our latest math exploration problems. They showed tons of perseverance on a couple of tough problems.
Students have just started our exploration of Ancient China. Specifically, they studied geography and how it affected life and settlement in the region. They will start to study Ancient Chinese philosophers this week.
Science rotations continue between the 5th Grade teachers. Mrs. Pound's class is studying electrical circuits, Ms. Ballon's class is studying the hydrosphere, and Mr. Eleby's class is studying parts of the solar system, including counting stars.
There will be Spanish Open Houses for all 5th Grades the first week of April. They will take place during regularly-scheduled Spanish class. Students are excited to share some of the songs, stories and games they have been learning in Spanish class this year. The Casa Abierta will take place in Room 60 in the 6th Grade Wing. See you there!
