Center Township Weekly Update
October 21, 2022
Greetings CT Families!
We are over 6 weeks into the school year and students are settled into routines and building relationships and rapport with classmates, teachers and staff. Teachers have focused on instructing the whole child in service of students being able to tackle the rigorous academic challenges of their grade level standards. We are very proud of all the hard work and accomplishments of all our students!
You may have heard your student proudly talking about earning a “Golden Ticket” for their SOARing behavior. There is a very good reason for this; there are only 10 Golden Tickets available to be earned by SOARing students a day. We make a big deal at CT when a student earns one!
Several things happen when a student receives a Golden Ticket: the student gets to place their ticket in the SOAR mailbox in Center Court, their name is announced on CTTV, and their name is recorded on the 200 Club Grid in Center Court for all to see. The excitement doesn’t stop there! When the 200 Club Grid shows 10 names in a row in any direction, the students in that row are able to select a SOAR or CT related item from the prize boxes.
Below are our most recent winners displaying their SOAR prize.
We Could Use Your Help
Every student has a PIN number that stays with them throughout their school years. This number must be used each time a student receives food from the cafeteria; even if the student participates in the free-lunch program or is picking up the breakfast that is free to all children.
Please help us by helping your child memorize their PIN. CT provides between 200 and 300 free breakfasts to our students daily; when students know their PIN the lines can move much more quickly.
What's New?
Mrs. Sidorchuk and Mrs. Zalenchak’s kindergarten students kicked off the school year with Alphabet Bootcamp. This intensive daily immersion of all 26 letters during the first weeks of school helped reinforce the letters and their sounds for students.
To celebrate the conclusion of Alphabet Bootcamp, students made “Alphabet Medals of Honor” and participated in fun alphabet games and activities that used all the letters of the alphabet. Some of these activities included sensory bin letter/sound digs, alphabet trains and puzzles, bingo, musical letters, tic-tac-toe, and more. It was a great way to celebrate the students’ hard work throughout the first 30 days of school.
