COVID Update #13
Friday 29th April
BASELINE SETTINGS
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
It was great to see the smiling faces of the children without masks as the removal of the mask mandate officially began today. We have been waiting for clarification from the Chief Health Officer, Education Department and Catholic Education WA around the new baseline settings and what this means for our school.
I am pleased to announce that as of Monday, 2nd May, baseline settings will allow most activities to resume in school. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Whole school assemblies
- Whole school masses
- Whole school merit assemblies
- Any whole school events
- Parent interviews & assistance in class
- Any P&F events, lunches (inc community lunch)
Please note that while the mask mandate has been removed, masks are encouraged when physical distancing is not possible and any child or parent who wishes to wear a mask is free to do so. The vaccination mandate also remains for volunteers (once per week or more) in education settings. Visitors or parents do not need to show proof of vaccination.
MOTHER'S DAY OPEN CLASSROOMS - Fri 6th May 8:20 - 8:50am
Unfortunately, with the late notice of these baseline settings, the Mother's Day breakfast had to be cancelled. However, to celebrate our community being welcomed back, we will be holding a Mother' Day open classroom for all Kindy - Year 6 classrooms on Friday 6th May, from 8:20am - 8:50am. This is an opportunity to join your child for a fun Mother's Day in-class activity and see some of the learning that has taken place in the classroom. As always, any adult that is seen as a caregiver to the child is welcome!
YEAR 4 WHOLE SCHOOL MOTHER'S DAY ASSEMBLY 2pm
As the hall will be used for our Kindy Mother's Day Zumba on Friday morning, the Year 4's will perform their Mother's Day themed assembly at 2pm in the hall on Friday 6th May for the whole school! It will be wonderful to have the first chance to bring all our children together.
COVID REPORTING
As we have now moved to baseline settings, there is no longer the requirement to report to the community the number of weekly positive COVID cases in our community. As a result, I will no longer be providing weekly numbers.
Parents are still required to submit a positive RAT to the Department of Health (WA Health) via the register WA Health RAT Register should their child receive a positive result. You will also need to continue to:
- Register via the school’s COVID-19 Self-Reporting Portal - COVID-19 Self-reporting Form for Students and Staff members
- Upload a copy of the WA Health text message to our portal.
- At day 7, if symptoms are still present, continue isolating until symptoms clear.
- If no symptoms are present after day 7, you can leave self-isolation. No testing is required.
The rules around close contacts have significantly changed, meaning children or staff cannot be identified as close contacts from a positive case at school. Please familiarise yourself with the requirements of close contacts and isolation: https://www.wa.gov.au/government/document-collections/covid-19-coronavirus-what-do-if-you-have-covid-19-or-are-close-contact
As always, if you have any queries or require clarification, please feel free to contact me via mailto:jason.baker@cewa.edu.au or call the office on 9562 9500.
Masks are off and the sun is shining. Can't help but be grateful! Rest up and enjoy the weekend ahead.
Best wishes
Jason Baker
