Helen's childhood
Helen was born is a small town in Alabama called Tuscumbia. Helen was born on June 27, 1880.Her parents were Kate Adams Keller and Colonel Arthur Keller. In 1882 Helen became very very sick and lost her ability to hear and see. School was very hard for Helen, nothing made sense to her because of her disabilities. Later on a girl named Graham Bell heard about Helen's disabilities and said she reminded her of a girl named Laura Bridgman, who was deaf and blind just like Helen.
What she did
Helen was a writer, she wrote books if you didn't know that. She wrote books about how it felt to be deaf and blind. Helen got the idea of being a writer from her father Colonel Arthur. He was the editor of the local paper, The North Alabamian. Some of the books Helen wrote are called, The story of my life, Live in my darkness, and The world I live in. Why she was important
Helen Keller was so important to many people. She showed people all over the world that even if you have disabilities like her, you are still capable to do anything you want to do. Helen went all over the world to write books about her life. A lot of people adored and loved Helen because of her free spirt. The fact that Helen was not making a big deal about how much money she was making and how she was not spending it all on herself it was mind blowing to people. Helen used the money to give to people who had the same problems and different problems to treat it or fix it!
