MOVE GROW BUILD: WINTER GAMES
SUNDAY NIGHT JANUARY 28TH, 5-6 PM!!
MOVE BUILD GROW is for kids in preschool and elementary school. Nursery is available. Children will meet in the children's building: Nursery/Preschool downstairs and Elementary age upstairs. Aftercare for nursery and preschool age children only is available until 7 pm.
Our first MOVE GROW BUILD was great! We had 20 children participate and 8 adult leaders. The children were excited and active! Come join us this!
Our first series for elementary-agers is WINTER GAMES (think Olympics). Kids are in age-based small groups rotating through Games, Drama/Music, and Bible/Devotion. This week kids will learn that we can trust God to lead us to victory no matter how difficult the challenge we face may be. “All who take part in the games train hard. They do it to get a crown that will not last. But we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” 1 Corinthians 9:25 (NIRV)
Our mission project (see Peanut Butter & Jelly Time below) will take us on a field trip to TEAM on Sunday, February 25th. Bring a friend!
Preschoolers will have separate activities that will include music, Bible story, crafts, and center play.
Please note we will not meet Sunday, February 4th or Sunday, February 18th.
Peanut Butter & Jelly Time
Children's Ministry is holding a competition for ALL children in Preschool - 5th grade!!
We are collecting Peanut Butter & Jelly for TEAM (Trussville Ecumenical Assistive Ministry) through the end of February.
Each Sunday children are asked to bring Peanut Butter & Jelly to their classroom. The group that brings the most by February 25th will have Pizza Party!!
The 3 children that bring in the most will be recognized in a special awards ceremony on Sunday, March 4th during the 8:30 a.m. service!
5th grade small group this Wednesday, January 24th, 6:15 pm
Fifth grade small group meets Wednesday, January 24th in their Sunday school classroom. Grab a 5th grade friend and join us! We'll be focusing on BFFs. To preteens, friends are all-important—but even more important than having friends is choosing good friends. For preteens, it can be confusing to know what to look for in a real friend. And as God tells us, it’s important to choose carefully.
We are giving 5th grade small group a name! IMPACT (Influencing My Peers as a Christian Tween). One of the things they will do this week is pick a Bible verse they feel best states how they feel as a group.
We will also be talking about our upcoming 5th grade retreat Exit456 March 10-11 at Camp Sumatanga. What is Exit456? It’s a gathering of tweens from the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist church. Every Tween is searching for identity. Many will look to their peers or pop culture to define who they are, but that never leads us to our true identity. Tweens need to be reminded that they are created in the image of God, loved and valued by God, and given a new identity through faith in Christ.
This event is designed to help Tweens value how God has uniquely and wonderfully made them, how God wants to give them a new identity through Jesus, and how He has called us to show our new identity through a life of love. Knowing our true identity helps us to confidently face the trials and pressures of life.
Cost is $25 each and includes lodging overnight, 3 meals, snacks, and a t-shirt. We leave Friday, March 10th around 4:30pm (we will take a church bus) and we will return Saturday, March 11th around 4pm.
I can promise you that your 5th grader will LOVE this event! Talk to middle schoolers that have attended in the past. Lots of great music & worship, talks from many youth and children’s leaders in our conference, crazy games, and more.
Please let me know if your 5th grader will be attending.
Wednesday Night LIVE 6:15 pm
Elementary students will meet in the GYM for a 5 week series “Lights, Camera, Action!”. Kids will learn how to pull Biblical truths out of any movie and apply them to their lives. Topics covered in the series will include: jealousy, integrity, friendship, persistence, and encouragement. Kids will watch movie clips from classic kid's movies each week. Kids will have fun learning with games, movie/lesson, and small group discussion. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We need at least one additional volunteer to assist the next few Wednesday nights. You can pick a night at this link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0549acaa23ab9-wednesday2
Our focus Wednesday is Integrity, David spares King Saul's life. Our movie clip comes from The Lion King. Kids will learn we should always do the right thing even when it's hard.
Preschoolers: Preschoolers will enjoy a Bible story, an art activity, music, and center play. We are in the process of developing a preschool team. If you are interested in being a part of this team please email Beth@fumctrussville.com. Preschoolers ages 3-5 will meet on the first floor of the children's building.
