Trojan Families,
Congratulations to Ms. Altshuler and the third, fourth, and fifth grade students and teachers for putting together a spring music concert last night. We are proud of their hard work and dedication to perform in front of an audience. Bravo!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the annual 5Essentials Survey. The survey is administered by the UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago on behalf of the Illinois State of Education. Our school is required to have at least 20% of parents to complete and submit the survey. To date, we have a response rate of 32%.
There is still time to take the survey! Please click here for more information and receive the link to the survey. The survey results have an impact on our State Report Card so your participation is appreciated.
The second trimester has ended and grades are available for your viewing in PowerSchool. Directions for viewing the report cards can be found here.
In addition, the annual IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) will be administered on April 5, 6, 11, 12, and 13. This assessment is required of all students in grades 3-5 and will assess students in reading and math. If you can find time over Spring Break for your student(s) to take some practice tests, you can access those here. Please help us by making sure you have your student(s) to school by 8:20am each morning after a good night's sleep, a healthy breakfast, and fully charged Chromebooks.
We hope you have an enjoyable and safe Spring Break. We will see you on Monday, April 4.

Construction Update
At John Mills, the following is a list of things scheduled for completion over Spring Break. Onward and upward!
Classrooms will have one foot tackboard material installed above the cabinets and whiteboards.
The stairwell at Door 2 will have a new ceiling and new lighting fixtures.
The temporary walls will come down to allow access to and from the addition.
The makerspace, media center, stairwell, and Door 5 (on N. 76th Ct) will be completed.
Furniture for the addition will be delivered for the media center, makerspace, and classrooms.
PreK playgrounds will start the week of Spring Break and continue through the end of the year.
At Elmwood Park High School...
Renovations to the Large Group Instruction (LGI) Room and Library will begin on March 25 to take advantage of students and staff being on spring break. The renovations will continue through the fall of 2023 with an anticipated completion date of early December 2023
The construction company will be staging in the District Office Parking Lot (north east section of the high school) and will be fencing off a secure area to work behind. The construction company will install a construction barrier wall around the LGI which will allow for the construction crew to renovate the building and be completely separated from the students and staff while school is in session. All construction workers will have a background check and be badged to work on school grounds.
During the construction project, student and staff parking and entrance procedures will remain the same (other than no access to the District Office parking lot).
Updates, pictures, and videos will be posted periodically to our website, found here.
Congratulations to Jacob and Margaux!
Congratulations to Jacob Baca and Margaux Malalis for being nominated for the SCOTY Award (School Citizen of the Year) presented by West 40. The award recognizes students chosen by their schools as good school citizens and models for others to emulate. Thank you Mrs. Gauthier, Mrs. Murray, and Mrs. Rickenbrode for writing the recommendations. Jacob and Margaux were honored on Wednesday, March 22nd during an awards ceremony at West Leyden High School in Northlake. Thank you students for that #jmtrojanrpride. Onward, Trojans!
