News From the Principal

Hello TES Families,

Important Dates:

Sept. 19th- SSC meeting @ 2:15

Sept. 22- Walk to School Day! Flyer above

Welcome to week 4 of the school year! This month we are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15). We are honoring the heritage of Hispanic Americans in our school and city, and encouraging all students, staff, and family members to deepen their understanding of the Latinx community by celebrating their histories, cultures and contributions. Look for information about our school wide celebration coming soon!

We hope you enjoyed the Art Installation along the front fence day as part of "International Dot Day!" Mrs. Valdez inspired our students to create something beautiful from the plastic Covid barriers that once divided our children. First and second graders recycled the materials and unleashed their creativity after reading The Dot by Peter Reynolds. International Dot Day inspires people around the world to "make their mark" and engage in creative self-expression. Thank you Mrs. Valdez!

Every year each student is required to fill out the LCFF form for our district. This is one of the ways we obtain funding. Please login to the Parent/Student Portal at:

If you have multiple children please fill out the for for each one. There names are on tabs at the top left of the screen. Once you login you can find the "LCFF Data Collection" button on the left hand side of the screen towards the bottom. It will only take you a minute. Thanks so much for taking a moment to complete this important task!

Annual Giving Campaign- Please donate!

Please see the flyer above and in your child's Red Monday folder and consider donating to our PTO/school. We have an amazing Parent Teacher Organization and many dedicated parents who help fundraise to provide enrichment opportunities for our students as part of their school experience. Your donations help fund Makerspace, Art Residencies, classroom grants, field trips, YMCA PE (beginning Oct. 3rd) and more! If your child loves these extras and you would like to see them continue please contribute today. Every little bit helps! Donate by check or cash to the office or donate online here!

Please look for the "Universal Form" coming home this week. It refers to the Fact for Parents document which is located at the bottom of this newsletter in both English and Spanish. We require a form for each child. Please fill it out and return it to your child's teacher. Thank you!

Congratulation to the following parents for being elected to SSC (School Site Council) this year: Kelly Brown, Bonnie Nazor and Audrey Johnson!

Traffic and safety reminders!

Morning Drop off- If you are using the morning drop off line please come from the Gabacho side and make a RIGHT turn into the parking lot. Turning left into the parking lot off La Cuenta causes a back up into the intersection where kids cross and frustrates drivers following the school rules and making a right hand turn as requested. Thank you!

Please do NOT ever park in or enter the lot with the solar panels. That is for staff only and it is extremely unsafe when cars come in and out with no where to turn around. The other large lot is open in the MORNINGS ONLY for drive thru drop off. The large lot is closed in the afternoon to everyone except those with a valid and visible handicap placard or sticker. Please park off campus and walk in to meet your children in the afternoon. Thank you for helping make our campus and streets safe for our students!

Public schools throughout California are required to provide information about themselves to the community in the form of an annual School Accountability Report Card (SARC). These report cards provide a variety of data to allow the public to evaluate and compare schools in several important areas:

● demographic information

● school safety and climate for learning

● academic data

● class size

● teacher and staff information

● professional development

● fiscal and expenditure data

The SARC, which follows the state's guidelines and document template, are issued each spring and focus on the previous academic year. A SARC is typically 12- 14 pages long. I have attached an electronic copy of our site’s SARC for the 2020-21 school year. Hard copies of our SARC are also available in the main office. The 2020-21 SARC is available at https://www.sarconline.org/. You can also access our current SARC electronically at: https://sarconline.org/public/print/37683386089056/2020-2021

If you have any questions about our school’s SARC, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Now Recruiting!
