Weather / Extra Clothes
With our weather being so unpredictable, please remind your child to dress for the weather. Also, please consider sending a change of clothes with your child, in the event that they get wet or muddy. There are no extra clothes at school.
Start of Day
Please remember that school doors open at 8:25 a.m. in the morning and that students go outside for morning recess and at lunch time. As the weather cools – please ensure your children are dressed appropriately (tuques & mitts). Students are expected to be outside unless it is -20C +/- with wind chill.
School Sport Activities
All sport activities that take place after school , we ask that you please be on time to pick up your child as our coaches have other commitments that they need to fulfill!!!

All parents and visitors are required to sign in at the office at all times and obtain a visitor badge prior to heading to your child’s classroom. If you need to drop something off for your child, you may leave it at the office and we will contact your child to come to the office during a break.

A Reading From The Gospel for Sunday, November 25, 2019
And the people stood by, watching; but the leaders scoffed at Jesus, saying, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Messiah of God, God's chosen one!"
The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine, and saying, "If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!"
There was also an inscription over him, "This is the King of the Jews."
Once of the criminals who were hanged there kept deriding him and saying, "Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us!"
But the other rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God? For we are getting what we deserve for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong."
The Gospel of the Lord.

Linking Generations
Dear Parents,
Students from Ecole Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) and seniors from Summerwood Seniors Residence shared a lunch hour walking through the festive trees at Greenland Garden Centre.
The conversation below is one that was overheard from a senior sharing her stories of Christmas’s past with her ‘linked’ students...
"Does anyone remember the white canned snow you used to buy? Some people would spend hours spraying it on their living room windows with little triangles in the corner to resemble snowflakes on the window. Other people would spray the trees with it to make their Christmas Trees look like they had just been brought in front outside. When it came to clean up – everyone disappeared !"

Dear Parents,
``A personally owned device must meet the educational needs of the school and district. The ability for a student to use any form of technology within school is a privilege. If the student doesn’t follow the guidelines the student may lose the privilege of using the device and network access may be suspended.``
" The student must comply with a staff request to shutdown the device or put the screen to sleep"
" Violation of any EICS School Board policies, Administrative Procedures, Responsible Use Agreement, this user agreement or school rules involving a student’s personally owned device may result in the loss of use of the device in school and/or disciplinary action"
During instructional time, students have the privilege to use their devices, but if they are playing games, etc, they are guilty of not following the contract they have signed.

Local Fundraiser - A Former EICS Student!!
Dear OLPH families,
I understand that fundraisers are a plenty but I wanted to share a special one that is unique to our community of EICS.
A former EICS student, George Miok, was a soldier who gave his life for our freedoms and privileges of being a Canadian.
Please take the time on Remembrance Day to think about the sacrifices that many brave women and men have made so that we may all enjoy the freedoms that we have.
Every dollar raised from this Jacek Sgt. George Miok Chocolate collection will be reinvested in the children in the community to ensure that the sacrifice of a great man, who gave his life for the belief of those freedoms, shall never be forgotten.

Dear Parents,
With the increase of students with serious allergies in our school, we are attempting to create a “Nut-Aware” environment.
We request that you refrain from sending peanut-butter sandwiches, cookies & treats that contain nuts and any nut-based snacks.
Every child’s health & safety are important to us and we appreciate your active concern and response to this request.

Please be advised that school fees have been posted on your child’s PowerSchool account.
Once fees are posted, you will be able to make payments on-line or by cheque at the school office. All cheques must be made payable to EICS. We would, however, like to encourage you to pay your school fees on-line.
In addition, you may divide your payments either on-line or by postdated cheques.
If you require any assistance with these fees, the Division offers a "Fee Waiver Program". More information can be found at

End of Day Procedures
Please make sure that you child(ren) know if they are to take the bus or if they are getting picked up at the end of the day.
Should a student need to confirm their end of day plans, we ask that all students make their arrangements during the morning recess (10:19 a.m. - 10:34 a.m.) or during the lunch hour (12:04 p.m. - 12:47 p.m.).
This will reduce the confusion and rush at the end of the day and will also ensure that your child(ren) does not miss the bus.
If a student comes to the office at the end of the day and are unsure how they are getting home, we will be sending them home on the bus.
