By Ted Kooser
"Something went wrong, says the empty house in the weed-choked yard"
You know that old abandoned farmhouse out on the edge of town? Ghostly stories about it get whispered around the campfire late at night. Yet have you ever heard of the poets version of that old abandoned farmhouse? The "Abandoned Farmhouse" by Ted Kooser? Don't worry it's not as spooky as it sounds. In the poem it says a man, a woman, and a child lived there. The man was big and tall, yet he was not one for farming. It was cold it the winters and they had little money. They left in a hurry. Something went wrong.
