Finally, this is a reminder that there is no school on Monday as we recognize our nation's Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. We encourage all our students to spend time this weekend dedicated to specific remembrance of the Civil Rights Movement that Dr. King symbolizes. I recommend reading Dr. King's "Letter From a Birmingham Jail" he wrote to fellow clergymen who were critical of his activism. It is is a powerful reminder of how different our nation was just less than 60 years ago. Recently, I was fortunate to tour the National Civil Rights Museum. I highly recommend it if you get the chance.
We look forward to seeing you all soon, and make sure your laptop is 100% charged for January 19th!

Lunch and COVID
Students eat in three shifts. "A" lunch is from 10:30 a.m. to 11:01 a.m., Middle Lunch is from 11:20-11:51, and “B” lunch is from 12:12 p.m. to 12:43 p.m. Monday - Friday. Hot lunches are available at the prices posted in the serving area.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, RBHS will space out lunch seating options in order to provide students with physically distanced seating to the extent possible. This may stretch into areas of the building not previously used for lunch seating.
Because of time and safety factors, freshman and sophomore students must eat on campus. Juniors and seniors must have parent permission forms on file to leave campus for lunch
Students who chose to remain in the building during lunch should follow these guidelines
While not in the act of eating or drinking, masks are required to be worn.
Remain in a consistent, stable group throughout the lunch period.
Chairs, benches, tables etc. may not be moved between tables.
Remain physically distanced from others while waiting in lines.
Students are responsible for disposing of their trays and leaving the area clean and neat. To minimize disruptions to classes still in session, students should eat in the cafeteria, designated hallway areas, and adjacent common areas.
Students are expected to return to class on time, whether leaving for lunch or remaining at school.
Students who leave for lunch and are tardy or absent from afternoon classes due to illness, accidents, car trouble or running errands, etc. will be considered truant.
Students may choose to eat their lunch outside of the school building while still on campus and should follow all guidelines associated with outside lunch.
Deliveries of food in the building are prohibited. Any delivery made to the building must be met outdoors in the circle drive.
Students may deposit lunch funds either in person or by visiting MySchoolBucks

Sanitation is a Communal Responsibility
We all want to be able to remain in-person. Be prepared to do your part to help us achieve this goal.
Media Center and COVID
Media Center
The RBHS Media Center is a quiet area for academic study. We offer a collection of print and online resources for students, faculty, and staff use. We distribute and manage library books, textbooks and literature sets to support classroom instruction. We also provide technology, research, and information evaluation and guidance to both students and teachers.
Accessing the Media Center and Media Center Materials
The Media Center is open Monday through Friday 8:30a.m -. 4:20 p.m.
Patrons may enter the Media Center via the East doors, and exit through the West doors. Students may not walk through the Media Center to move from class to class.
The Media Center will utilize a sign-up to make appointments for help, recognizing that walk-ins are appropriate as space and time permits appointments are requested.
Students may make an appointment to get assistance with technology issues, browse books, or get help from a Media Specialist.
Students will make an appointment to visit the Media Center via the online form on the RB homepage Ask a Media Specialist or by calling the Media Center at #33474
A limited number of students may access the Media Center during their AUT block: first come, first served. Students on AUT must maintain social distancing while in the Media Center.
Media Bays are not available during the 20-21 school year.
Media Specialists will be available remotely (via email or Zoom) to help students with issues as needed.
Printing will not be available during the 2020-21 school year.
Most items may be checked out for a 2-week period, however, materials must be quarantined for 96 hours before they can be checked in, thus some materials may not be immediately available for checkout.
Students and teachers may explore books in Destiny and then place a hold. Books will then be retrieved, checked out and delivered to patrons by the MC team. Students may get help with independent reading selections by using the Ask a Media Specialist link on the Media Center home page.
Virtual students will have full access to Media Center materials. Each Wednesday, requested materials will be delivered to the Main Office for pickup.
Overdue notices are sent through student email to students.
The Media Center provides a variety of ways to access information including Destiny - an online library catalog for print materials, ebooks and emagazines, and numerous online databases. Online databases and other electronic resources can be accessed through the CPS Portal.
Using the Media Center
The Media Center has individual seating available for students on a space available basis. Students may not move furniture or congregate in pairs or groups.
No food or drink is allowed in the Media Center.
It is important to keep in mind while there are many spaces at Rock Bridge for socializing, the Media Center is a place for reading, study, and purposeful learning.
Students are expected to maintain a quiet, academic atmosphere while using the Media Center.
Please watch the video below for a quick description of Media Center procedures at RBHS during COVID.
Materials Drop Off
With the start of second semester classes just around the corner, we are looking to collect any and all our materials back at RBHS. These materials could be from the 2019-20 school year or from this past Quarters 1 and 2. Please bring any classroom materials to the East Main Entrance at RBHS from 9-4 Monday through Friday. There will be a bin for contact-less drop off. There will also be return bins outside the Media Center entrance.

Student Lockers

Student Check-in/out Procedures
All sign out procedures will be handled via a digital method at the North and East entrances.
If a student must leave the building during the school day for any reason, the student must sign out at the North or Main exit after a parent/guardian has called to release them from school.
If late, a student should sign in at the North or Main entrance and report directly to class.
If ill, the student must receive authorization from the nurse and check out through that office.
11th-12th grade students who have permission to leave school during their 2nd or 3rd period AUT must sign out at North or Main exit.
Students who have an AUT during 1st or 4th period DO NOT need to sign in or out.
Student Parking Explained
Students are allowed to drive and park at RBHS prior to being issued a parking permit. Students are required to park in the North Parking Lot or spaces in the South Lot with a yellow bear painted in the spot. You can watch the video above titled "RBHS AM Arrivl SY2..." to see the exact locations for student parking on Rock Bridge Campus. We will let you know when and where we will be handing parking passes out at RBHS, through the InfoBruin, a later Bridge Communications, and at school.
The first step to get your parking pass is to submit an application online. This can be found by going to Rock Bridge homepage, and clicking on Parking Pass Information, under “Important Information for back to school during COVID”, or clicking the link at the bottom of this section. We will also need a copy of your student’s driver’s license and proof of insurance for the vehicle they will be driving. Unfortunately, we cannot accept digital copies of these at this time. They must be mailed or copies need to be delivered in person by students when we are ready to collect them. If you have already submitted an online application, please double check that you have mailed in these 2 items. We have many students missing these and cannot hand out parking passes without them.
