Marian Central Catholic High School Faculty Newsletter
August 9, 2019
We are so close to the beginning of the school year... can you believe it?
Besides the many of the students being busy participating in the Freshmen Study Skills Camp, College Essay, and Publications Workshops, there was quite a buzz within many of the classrooms as teachers were getting their rooms ready for the new year! In addition, our 8 new staff members went through a training session on Friday, providing them with valuable information to make their year a success!
Although you will be meeting them on Monday, here is a list of our new staff members along with their position at Marian. Please welcome them to our school family!

August 12 Inservice
Our 2019-20 kick-off inservice day is coming up quickly. We are very excited to have you all back! Both a continental breakfast and a lunch will be provided by Marian for all Staffulty on this day. Please see the attached agenda for the meeting.
Marian Committees
Many of you have already been involved in one or more committees at Marian that help to provide a collaborative environment that provides the best possible education for our students. We want to thank you for your continued commitment to our students and school. This year, we are adding and/or changing a few committees so we wanted to give all staffulty members the opportunity to get involved. During our opening inservice day we will be putting out sign up sheets for all of the committees in which you might want to volunteer to be on. If you have already been participating in one you can either re-sign up for it, or choose to venture to another one that interests you. Please click on the following link for brief descriptions of each, including the potential time commitment for you to consider prior to our inservice.
In addition, we are considering developing a Staffulty Social Committee that might meet to brainstorm ways in which the Staffulty can build relationships, recognize each other, and just have fun outside of our work responsibilities! Please consider this and we will discuss at the Aug. 12 inservice.
Have a great week!

TECHNOLOGY CORNER
Information on Student Device Distribution
We have negotiated a new partnership with St. Benedict's Technology Consortium in order to provide the best, most responsive support for our technological needs. The team from St. Benedicts, with the oversight of Mrs. Houk, are currently preparing our students' devices for the new school year. Because of the somewhat late start we had, we have postponed the device distribution to either the first or second week of school... We are really focused on getting them done the week of Aug. 5... which will allow us to distribute them Aug. 14-16, but we will keep you infomed of the progress. We are trying to make sure that this doesn't interrupt plans for using the devices during the first week of school... but they will be done and distributed NO LATER than the week of Aug. 19. Stay tuned!
Technology Support In-House
As you already know, Julie Houk is our in-house Technology Coordinator. Not only does she coordinate with all of the outside agencies like Microsoft and St. Benedicts, but she oversees all of the purchasing and maintenance of ALL technology within our building. She is also responsible for maintaining all network accounts, maintenance and troubleshooting with regards to all technology, supporting Staffulty in their use of our student information system, Rediker, and most anything else related to technology.
Karen Varga, in the library, is our first line of defense in troubleshooting student devices. If your students have any issues with their devices that you cannot otherwise assist with, please send them to her. Hours will be determined soon.
Transition to Outlook Email
Please be informed that we have NOT yet transitioned from Gmail to Outlook for our email. Once we are ready to do so, we will give you more information. Thank you for your patience.
