Mason Moose Minutes October 29
Teamwork it is! One Mason, One Family, One Team!
Message from the Principal
It is indeed Friday once again, and Happy Friday! I take the opportunity to reflect upon this past week and continue to take pride in the efforts of the Mason team to work collaboratively with each other, with our dear students, and our community! We are committed to providing all with the knowledge to learn, the tools to lift, support and motivate each other, and the inspiration to lead and believe in one another!
The school community continued to take part in our weekly read aloud. This week I read There's Only One You, by Kathryn Heling and Deborah Hembrook! We took the opportunity throughout the week to highlight our similarities, but also value our differences amongst each other, and truly reinforce the importance of each of us appreciating how we are all unique and special in many similar, but different ways just as well. Our hope is to continue to teach students the value of self, and also the importance of them believing in themselves. I often remind students, I believe in them, and I want them to believe in themselves! I encourage families to reinforce this with their student at home, and have conversations of what this may look like or sound like in day to day experiences.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the families who donated items for the Halloween parties at school today, and for all who volunteered in the classrooms as well! Seeing the smiles on the students faces, and to be able to share in laughter and fun made this indeed a special day!
As we look to next week, kindly be reminded that there is no school on Tuesday, November 2 due to a districtwide teacher professional development day. We look forward to seeing our students on Monday, November 1 and then again on Wednesday through Friday, November 3-5th!
Additionally, I truly want to thank Ms. Ali Sledz and the PTO for all of their support with the Fun/Color Run! We are excited to share the students who earned a lunch with me, this is being scheduled for Thursday, November 4! Furthermore, the students who have earned the opportunity to participate in the silly string battle with me will do so on Friday, November 5! We will have one silly string battle with the Y5s through first grade students, and another with the 2nd through 4th grade students. Ms. Sledz will be preparing a letter to share with families as applicable.
Thank you sincerely for your ongoing support and partnership in addressing our students' needs. We continue to move forward as One Mason, One Family, One Team! If you need anything in the meantime, please know you can contact me via email at Hassana@gpschools.org or by phone at (313) 432-4404. As always....Teamwork it is! Together we learn, we lead, and we lift!

Coats for Kids
Kindly know that we have some coats available that were donated to the school from last year to any student who may be in need. With the weather getting colder, we encourage families who are in need to please feel comfortable to call the main office and inquire about getting a coat for their student.
Morning Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
* Students should not be playing at the playground in the morning or on the blacktop. Please kindly remind your student.
* Please DO NOT PARK, nor double park on Charlevoix Rd as this is a drop off area during morning arrival and dismissal times. We want to be proactive about this so that parents are not ticketed for parking there, and students are safe to be dropped off.
* Please DO NOT DOUBLE PARK in the school parking lot, and kindly park in identified parking spaces only.
* Additionally, during morning arrival, let us try to park in the parking spots which tend to be available if you intend to walk your child to the blacktop, and please DO NOT PARK in the drop off circle so that it indeed is a drop off circle for all students to be dropped off safely.
Building Visitors and Volunteers
ATTENTION ALL PARENTS who are interested in volunteering during lunch and/or recess, please call the main office and ask to speak to Ms. Lyon. We would like to reflect a schedule of parent volunteers who are available to support on specific days, along with when we have indoor recess days. We appreciate all of your support!
If you are interested in being a volunteer at Mason, please know that we kindly need an ICHAT form to be completed with the main office staff at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled day. Thank you for your support and understanding!
