ALL SCHOOL NEWS
Tuesday, November 3rd will be an Asynchronous Distance Learning Day for ALL STUDENTS
A-L, M-Z and Virtual students, for ALL classes (blocks 1-7)
There will not be any in person learning today. This means that there will not be a "bell schedule" and classes won't be meeting at specified times. Students are required to check Canvas sometime on Tuesday for ALL classes (blocks 1-7) and follow the instructions left by the instructor.

Parent Teacher Conferences
In-Person students and families:
Click here for Instructions to sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences and to access the list of teachers and the links to sign up for their conferences.
Your time is not finalized until you SUBMIT the form and RECEIVE an email confirmation.
Keep the email as your reminder. It will contain specific information to access the Zoom meeting for your student’s teacher.
Verify the selected time on the email is correct.
Do not go back to resubmit a form after it has already been submitted for a teacher.
Virtual Education students and families will receive individualized communication/emails from their teachers regarding the process for sign-up times for those courses.

BVW Computer Science Honor Society
We will have our first meeting of the school year on Tuesday, November 3rd at 2 pm on Zoom. Science National Honor Society Applications Are Open!
All SciNHS members must meet the following:
Be a junior or senior in a science class OR
Be an underclassman in an AP science class
Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
Have a science GPA of at least 3.5, and submit verification

BV Femineer Information
Cal Poly Pomona College of Engineering is excited to start a new cohort of Femineers this 2020-2021 academic year. The Femineer Program empowers K-12 female students to develop the skills and confidence needed to pursue majors and careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. ATHLETIC NEWS
Post-Season Updates
Congratulations and Good Luck to the JAGUAR Cross Country teams! The boys team won the regional meet last Saturday and the girls team finished third. The JAGS qualified both teams - 14 runners - for the state meet this Saturday in Augusta, KS.
The Jaguar Volleyball team won their substate tournament last Saturday to qualify for the 6A State tournament. On Tuesday, the JAGS beat SM Northwest in a 5-set match to advance to the 6A Final Four in Salina on Friday. GO JAGS!
The Jaguar Soccer team continues their run through the 6A post-season tournament. The JAGS defeated BV North in the first round of the regional tournament on Tuesday.
Winter Sports Begin November 16th
Believe it or not, winter sports are just around the corner! November 16th is the first day for boys and girls basketball, wrestling and boys swim and dive. If you are interested in participating and did not compete in a fall sport, you must complete and return the required Participation Packet prior to the 16th. The packet can be picked up in the office at West of downloaded from the BV West athletic website - www.bvwestjags.com.
NFHS Network - Livestreaming Jaguar Athletics
The BLue Valley School District has partnered with the NFHS Network and is now able to livestream most athletic events in the district. Many other schools in the KC area have also joined the NFHS Network, so you will have access to many JAGUAR athletic events, home and away. ACT Prep Program
High School Students Opportunity to Earn College Credits
The College Now program provides high school students the opportunity to earn college credits through concurrent enrollment while completing their high school requirements.Start an application here.
The College Now and Quick Step Plus enrollment deadline has been extended to November 9. The deadline to complete placement testing or to request a placement waiver has been extended to October 30. Due to required social distancing measures in our Testing Center, seating for placement testing will be limited. To ensure enrollment by the deadline, schedule an appointment to complete any required placement testing as early as possible.
Virtual College Rep Visits
Every year admissions representatives from colleges across the country come to Blue Valley West to meet with students and provide information about their institutions. This year these visits will be occurring but they will be held virtually. All college rep visits can be found in Naviance under the colleges tab. At the moment we have 40 visits scheduled and more are added daily. Please sign up in Naviance to attend any session you are interested in.
AP Exam Registration Information
This is a 2 step process if you plan on taking the exam!!
1. Register for the course and exam through College Board myap.collegeboard.org
Make sure you have your join code from your teacher before trying to register
Everyone enrolled in the course must register for the course in College Board. Teachers use the instructional materials from College Board in their classrooms
Registration for the exam will be marked “yes” for you; if you don’t want to take the exam please change “yes” to “no” or an exam will be ordered for you. Not everyone has to take the exam. If you marked “no” during this step you don’t have to move to step 2
Registration Deadline: October 30th
Exam Fees:
$107 per course unless you are taking AP Research or AP Seminar and those exams are $142
Any full year exam registered for or paid for after October 30th will be charged a $40 late fee
