Opportunities
The W&M Global Film Festival is excited to announce the new GFF Ambassadors Club! This informal group meets at W&M to discuss upcoming festival programming, offer feedback, and screen films with discussions hosted by Film & Media Studies faculty. Fall 2018 meetings will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 17, and Wednesday, December 5, with additional sessions to be held in early 2019. THF offers paid, full time internships in media and entertainment for diverse candidates. Companies are in New York, Los Angeles, DC, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Miami. The 2019 application has opened and the Spring 2019 deadline to apply is Oct 31.
2019 Essay Contest -- Elie Wiesel Foundation Prize in Ethics
Winning students are eligible for an internship and a chance for publication in a nationally recognized source. 1st place: $5000, 2nd: $2500, 3rd $1500, Honorable mention $500. Topic: Articulate with clarity an ethical issue that you have encountered and analyze what it has taught you about ethics and yourself. Note that the most engaging essays often reflect deeply on a particularly meaningful experience or episode in one’s life. That approach could focus ethical reflection on:
- A personal issue
- A family matter
- A travel incident
- An academic inquiry
- A dilemma in literature or film
- A recent article or editorial in a major newspaper
- A current conflict in American life
- An international crisis
Write about any specific topic you wish, provided it explores an ethical problem, question, issue, or concern. Submit here.
