Principal's Update
Scappoose Students, Families, and Staff,
Hello Scappoose Community,
Class elections are slated for this coming week. Watching our candidates campaign and prepare for the election process is impressive. Reminder next week is Spring Break. I encourage students behind in any class to speak to teachers about work to improve their grades. Enjoy the break! Oregon State Assessment News-JUNIORS ONLY!
Each school year, Oregon students take assessments to meet federal requirements. The purpose of these assessments is to provide data that schools can use to ensure that every child is on track and achieving learning goals.
State law requires us to inform you that a form is available from the State Department of Education that allows you to opt your child out of the math and English Language Arts assessments for the current school year. Should you wish to opt-out your child, fill out the form and submit it to the main office or email them to Jami Schmid at, jschmid@scappoose.k12.or.us. The DEADLINE TO SUBMIT OPT-OUTS IS APRIL 10th. Meeting the deadline will help the school with planning and preparation.
If you have questions or want more information about state assessments, please contact your student's administrator.

My name is Sammy Heimbuck and I am a Junior at Scappoose High School. I am a part of the National Honors Society, and for my Individual Service Project, I am partnering with Make A Wish Oregon to fundraise $ 7,000 to make a local Wish-Kids wish and send them to Disney World! I have my first fundraiser coming up on March 24th at Scappoose Dutch Brothers, so make sure to mark your calendars.
From open to close a dollar from each drink sold will go towards my fundraiser. It would mean so much to me if you helped support my endeavor! Safe and Sober Parent Organization
What we do:
Event planning, resourcing, and fundraising for the Senior Luncheon, Baccalaureate, and Graduation party
Senior Luncheon, Fri Jun 2:
After the seniors do their parade-style walk through the elementary schools, they come back to the high school to refuel with some lunch and then start rehearsal for the graduation ceremony.
Baccalaureate, Fri Jun 2: A more intimate opportunity to pause and reflect on this rite of passage, which includes some inspirational speakers, and fun interaction for the seniors.
Actions items for parents and guardians of seniors:
We have a slideshow with baby pictures! Send a baby picture to shssafeandsober@gmail.com, including the first and last name of the student. DUE MAY 1st
We also want a current photo to show then and now
Senior posters are a long-standing tradition. These collages of photos and memories of your senior will be on display at a special ‘Walk through Memory Lane’ event following the Baccalaureate in the cafeteria. Poster requirements: Design vertically 28” h x 22” w on traditional poster board, including the student’s name on the front and upper left corner on the back. DROP OFF AT THE SHS OFFICE MAY 30 - JUNE 1. You will get the posters back after the event. Have fun and get creative!
Graduation party, Sat Jun 3:
This party is meant to be a safe place for graduating seniors to celebrate together. They will be bussed to a secret (fun!) location in the evening after the graduation ceremony. They will be bussed back in the morning. The evening is filled with food, games, prizes, activities, chilling, and loads of fun!
