Want to Get Important School District Update on Your Phone? Download our App!
SchoolMessenger is the service that we use for a variety of notifications, including emergency situations, unexcused absences, and lunch account balances. To make sure that you’re receiving school and district news and alerts in the ways that work best for you, West Linn-Wilsonville School District is launching a new communications app. With this app, you can:
- Set your communications preferences for calls, emails, texts, and more
- Review all messages that were sent to you — smartphone, laptop, etc. — even any that may have gotten lost on their way to you or your device.
Go to https://go.schoolmessenger.com to download the SchoolMessenger mobile app for Apple and Android devices. Or, use the web-based version available at https://go.schoolmessenger.com/#/account/login from your web browser.
Note that there is a sign-up link at the bottom of the page and it's FREE!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Currently, SchoolMessenger communicates via telephone and email. Soon though, we will begin communicating via text (also known as SMS) messaging.
Due to federal regulations, we cannot begin communicating with you via text or SMS until you have opted-in. In order to participate in the new service you must indicate your willingness to receive text messages on your phone. The process is simple and only takes a few seconds to complete. Ready?
- From the phone where you want to receive these notices, simply text YES to 67587.
- That's it - there is no number 2!
The district will be officially launching this service during April of 2018. Until that time, you will not receive any text messages from this service except for the confirmation receipt.
Note that the system connects you to your children by matching the phone number you send the text from to the phone numbers on file at school. Be sure that information is accurate and current. You may update the information by accessing FamilyLink.
You can also opt out of these messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.
SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy Pledge, so you can rest assured that your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.
WLWV School Board Joins West Linn City Council for Work Session
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District joined West Linn City Council on Monday, April 16 for a joint work session. The two partners collaborated around a variety of topics, including the District’s ongoing High School Study, mental health resources in Clackamas County, collaboration of West Linn and school libraries, and the potential for West Linn and Wilsonville to host athletes during the upcoming World Track and Field Championships in 2021 among other items. Read more about the meeting on the District Website.
District Walkout Protocol
In the event of a planned walkout or demonstration at any WLWV school, it's important to note that students are not obligated to participate, and teachers will remain in classrooms to teach students who choose to remain in class. Those who do choose to walkout will not be penalized academically for their participation, and we will take attendance upon return to class.
In the event of student demonstrations, principals work with student leaders in our middle schools and high schools to ensure safe and orderly walkouts. In alignment with that practice, staff also prepares ahead of time to create safe venues for students while providing alternative forums for expression that avoid disrupting class time. The District asks that students remain on campus for the duration of any walkout. WLWV involves the West Linn Police Department and Wilsonville Police Department, as well as additional campus supervision from administrators in order to maintain a safe environment during such events.

There, community members can bring documents to be shredded in what promises to be a fun environment. Read all about Shred Day and what students are doing to prepare on the District Website.
