Welcome Back from Mrs. D!

Hello Ryan Families!

I hope this update finds you all enjoying your summer with your family and friends. I am SO excited to be back and writing this email to kick off the 22-23 school year! The start of a new school year is always so exciting, but there is for sure something extra special about this year.

This summer definitely gave me some extra special time to spend with my boys reflecting and recharging. We spent a lot of time outdoors, here and back in Wisconsin and Minnesota, traveled, cheered for the AVS, and overall spent some quality time with family and friends.

The last few years have certainly not come with out challenge for all of us, but I know that it has made our Ryan family even stronger! I want to thank you all for not only supporting the school and our staff as we navigated the last few school years with uncertainty, but also from the bottom of my heart for supporting me through the loss of my husband last year. I could not have done it without the Ryan family behind me!

In this newsletter you will find details on the following:

  • Welcome Back to School Events
  • Staffing Update
  • Class Lists
  • School Start and End Times
  • School Supplies
  • District Reminders/Information

The Ryan office is now open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Our staff will be back next Wednesday.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks, it's going to be an amazing year!

See you soon!

~Mrs. D

Please remember we do not take teacher requests or make changes to be with specific friends, etc. Directions for viewing your child's teacher will be sent out with an email when this information is live.
  • Meet the Teacher Event: Monday, August 15th 4-6 p.m. This event will take place outdoors on the Ryan playground. It will be an opportunity for you to meet your child's teacher, see the Ryan staff, get transportation details, and visit with community partners. We can't wait to see you!
  • First Day of School: The first day of school for all 1st-5th graders will be Wednesday, August 17th. There will NOT be a late start on this day.
  • Kindergarten Kickoff Days: Wednesday, August 17th-Friday, August 19th. All kinder students will attend a half day.

Kindergarten Kickoff Details:

  • This year, we are so excited to have three half-days to get to know your child at the beginning of the school year. Your child will either attend school in the AM or the PM on August 17th, 18th, and 19th. Option 1 Half-Day AM: 7:50-10:45 and Option 2 Half-Day PM: 11:50-2:45. Please indicate your preference by clicking HERE.
  • The half-days will allow us to ease into the full-day kindergarten schedule, assess each student, work with smaller groups of kids to develop routines and procedures, and ensure balanced class lists.
  • Your child will get to know all of the teachers during their half-days, and begin with their classroom teacher their first full-day, Monday, August 22nd! While kindergarteners will not attend lunch on the half-days, please make sure to pack them a healthy snack and a water bottle!

  • Be kind and patient to staff and other Ryan community members.

Big picture

Transportation

Bus stops and times will be posted in IC this week. With our new hires, route reductions, and other CDL staff available for back-up, we will be able to provide bus service to all transportation-eligible, registered students as defined by Board policy EEAA. Be aware, to reduce the overall number of routes, we have consolidated routes along corridors and created hub stops. In many cases, students will have to travel farther to/from their bus stop.

If you need help accessing this information, office staff will be available at Meet the Teacher Night.
